1.2.8 OpenBeta is out!! Let's enjoy

Wasn,t working for me. Did what is stated below. Downloaded and running great.

 

Create a shortcut to DCS_updater.exe, right click shortcut->properties and append to Target "update" (without quotations). It might look similar to this: "R:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe" update

This might help those unable to locate the DOWNLOAD for the beta...and some tips to make it easier:

 

1: Have a full 1.2.7 latest official built installed ( The beta will COPY most of it's data from this

local source instead of downloading it all.

 

2. Download the Beta installer if you don't have it already:

3. Login to MultiPlayer first, THEN open the Modules Manager. It should then show you all your

Modules that you have purchased. Again, with a 1.2.7 local copy, the beta-downloader will only

download the diff and not the whole module, saves some big megabytes.

 

4. HAVE FUN !! :)

I click the update dcs world shortcut but it's not updating. It just launches the game and still shows as 1.2.7. What the....

The Huey Flight manual is somewhat messed up. After the last page it has another 150 pages of duplicated material, though with some different section numbers.

Okay thanks, Though as Bitmaster has said it seems to be downloading the full game and not going off my 1.2.7 install. Is there anyway for it to not have to download the full files and just update the files which are needing updated without having to download all of them again?

you have to modify a file to tell it to use the 1.2.7 files, i believe c0ff posted it, lemme search:

You can tell OpenBeta installer to use your Installed DCS World.

It requires some light hackery:

 

1) When installing OpenBeta unselect 'Start Download' or cancel the transfer

2) In the OpenBeta install folder create a file dcs_local_source.txt and put there a path to your DCS World install. Save the file in UTF-8 encoding.

3) Update the OpenBeta - it will pick up the files from the path in dcs_local_source.txt

From now on, your openbeta install will always first look into your release DCS World for files, until you delete dcs_local_source.txt file.

It does this automatically, as long as normal DCS World was installed using our installer (i.e. when HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Path points to a valid DCS World folder)

Hi All, I cannot get the beta to download. It gets about half ways through copying DCS World files then crashes. windows says program has stopped working. I have the 1.27 version that was updated from 1.26. Help Please and thank you!

crashes??? that's VERY interesting. Please, post the autoupdate_log.txt file from the installation folder.

Did a sling load of a 500 kg crate, which I ferried over to a stationary Hazard Perry, from Batumi.

 

Put it down gently, after fighting the pendulum for a bit. However, once down on the aft deck, the crate just went straight thru the deck and into the ocean..

 

Gonna give it a couple more goes, then on to a moving Hazard Perry. Gun be gud

EDIT: I swear fps improved tremendously with this beta patch. Check out the green reflection along the coast.
