Dudester22 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Can anyone tell me how you deactivate your DCS modules if your computer is broken? I need to build another one and install DCS on that.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 30, 2014 ED Team Posted April 30, 2014 If you can no longer login or run that machine you have lost 1 activation on each module. Just install fresh on the new machine and activate again. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? sobek Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 run protect.exe Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 30, 2014 ED Team Posted April 30, 2014 using A-10c as an example but all modules can be done this way DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\bin double click the A10_protect and it will bring up the dialogs for activating or deactivating Bare in mind if you have made hardware changes its a different story. sniped by sobek :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? BitMaster Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Hey there, I had the same question(s) and from what I got told it works like this: A: You have a PLANNED change of PC or Core Components, then DEACTIVATE as told above and the license will be revoked. You do not loose your license. B: Things happen and your VGA card broke, your drive got mad at you or your board is done from one day to another: You loose 1 license out of your 10. If you did swop a graphic card, get the old one back in if it still works, revoke as told above and then insert new card again and activate again, you dont loose anything this way, just if your old card is fried and wont work, or board needs to be replaced....well, most likely you will loose 1 out of 10. So what happens when you get down to 1 license left total ? Well, as far as I understood it, from that point in time on ED will REISSUE a license every month to you so you ALWAYS have 1 license available to activate. The only bad thing would be if you crash twice in 30 days time and the renewal is still 14 days to go. I would contact ED in that case and kindly ask for help. ED, correct me if I understood it wrong and telling this fellow mate some BS :) Bit Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
Weta43 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 "just if your old card is fried and wont work, or board needs to be replaced....well, most likely you will loose 1 out of 10." There's some threshold, and I'm pretty sure (because I just changed my video card & didn't appear to lose an activation) it's higher than a video card. If your motherboard goes, you lose 1 activation (it's essentially a new computer) If just your video card goes, you don't lose an activation Cheers.

From the Quick Start Guide: An activation will be required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points as rated below: • CPU ID: 13 • Windows PID: 3 • Computer Name: 3 • Hard drive volume serial number: 3 • MAC address: 6 • RAM amount: 6 ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP!
