Cobra847 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 You're playing a computer game and you haven't tried the nuke yet?? :shocking: Some people just want to see the world burn  It's like filling the bowl with milk first and then add the cereals! Seriously WHO? Heh, I have flown the aircraft for many many hours, but 99% of the time I'm just looking over the artwork and jumping back and forth between various tools. Sometimes I'll toss in a landing or shoot something down. Never have really done a mission start to finish or had a pure "Joy flight" just yet, even after all this time. chromium Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Have a check box for mission makers to disallow the use of nukes if they don't want the player to use them. Not needed, you can simply make it unavailable in the RMS for your or other airbases :). Author of DSMC, mod to enable scenario persistency and save updated miz file Stable version & site: https://dsmcfordcs.wordpress.com/ Openbeta: https://github.com/Chromium18/DSMC The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.
Iberian Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I don't believe it's possible to have r-33s. Maybe Cobra could give us some insight on all this stuff :) It's possible to have R-33s now, so I'm sure it can be loaded on the mig-21 easily. However, i personally see no fun in that. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

NRG-Vampire Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 no. 6 hardpoints are only for jato boosters ? but for what is the no. 7 hardpoint ? :dunno:
ff4life4 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 6 is JATO and bolt on flarepods 7 is indeed smokepipe few pages back
NRG-Vampire Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 few pages back ah, thanks, i see  but no. 7 for smokepipe ? is that real ? (like on blue angels or red arrows irl) or just for fun - like adding smokewinder in the nozzle ?
ff4life4 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 So the longest ranged missile we have ir the R-60M? I was hoping for something with longer range, like 20km, to combat Sparrows.. R-33 would be awesome.. Could launch them very far away in a large group, then run... but i don't think the radar would allow it to be used to much potential
WinterH Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Regarding missile maximum ranges, while kinematic range of R-13M and R-13M1 are longer than R-60M, they will only be able to obtain a lock from behind the target, which means they will have to be employed against receding targets only. Which would limit it's range with any decent PK to a few kilometers. Therefore, if we are talking about tail chase shots, no, longest range IR missile isn't R-60M, but if we think of any other scenario, R-60M may not only be the longest range, but also probably the only missile that would work :). Regarding radar guided missiles, well, we'll just have to wait and see :) I wouldn't expect too much from RS-2US or R-55. As for R-3R, again not much but may be more practical than most other non R-60 arsenal, we'll see. Now that we know R-55 is in list too, may I ask any one of Leatherneck folks, what seeker does in game R-55 use? IR or SARH :) ? ff4life4 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I must say we have no chance against f15 or su27. Unless the person piloting them is really stupid
NoJoe Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I must say we have no chance against f15 or su27. Unless the person piloting them is really stupid In that case you'd do fine against me! :P
Sceptre Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 just stick to hunting A-10s and choppers :) RTX 2070 8GB | 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2Ghz | Asrock X570 | CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle | TM MFDs | TrackIR 5
ff4life4 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 just stick to hunting A-10s and choppers :) Yes, but the Sidewinder has more range than R-60m lol
Ktulu2 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Well, you could have decent fight, as mig is faster, and as soon as you get to the merge, you'll have a big advantage. I do DCS videos on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAs8VxtXRJHZLnKS4mKunnQ?view_as=public

51GRIZZLY Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I would think of the bird as a really fast groundpounder :smilewink:
ff4life4 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) I would think of the bird as a really fast groundpounder :smilewink: That was exactly how I envision it. Especially with the "not sure how difficult to use" radar guided a2g missiles, rockets, and what not. Would be nice to be able to run if enemy comes knocking. Or if in the mountains you could at least keep enemy fighters potentially occupied and distract them from friendly a10s until the Eagles or 27s arrive to save the day :) mig-21bison has I beleive the R-77.. Lol oh well. Edit: Could be really fun for the deeper strick missions, like hitting factories, or attacking enemy airfields with runway denial and what not. Edited July 9, 2014 by ff4life4
Avimimus Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Yes, but we have an earlier variant. I'm sure it'll shine in the mountains through - there is lots of rough terrain, and visual acquisition at short range becomes key. One can also use terrain masking against BVR attackers. It'll still suffer in the power department though. I'd love to see an F-5 as an opponent (although I want a Mig-27 or Su-22 as a fast ground attack platform).
mongol-29 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 R-55 IR. R-55 the first Soviet guided missile capable of intercepting targets in the front hemisphere, but the best the enemy of the good, and she quickly gave way to a P-60. Mongol-29 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Zakatak Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 I would think of the bird as a really fast groundpounder :smilewink: Pretty good for strike missions I imagine. Load up a flight with pairs of FAB-500's or Kh-66's to do some heavy damage, two or four R-60M's for self defense or taking out other attack airctaft, and a centerline tank. Skim the mountains to your target, pop up at the last moment, blow up your target and drop your fuel tank, and sprint back home to gear up again.
Meldir Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Will it be possible to engage ground targets with R-3S missile like it is stated in MiG-21bis manual? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] РАЗРЕШИТЕ ВЗЛЁТ!
