Foxbeard Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Hey there, I was working on the texture and lights model of a carier I found in the web some time ago. (I think it was originally Tamcatz model). When I finished my work, I tried to land on the carrier, many times with no succes. I am working with the 1.2.7. version, and I have a feeling that it is some kind of bug. The problem is: I come down on the deck with correct speed, correct position and angle. But then it feels like I am getting pushed into the air like a flummy. After that the hook isn´t lowerd anymore, so there was a reaction with the hook. When I am trying to land on the Russion carrier, everything is working fine. Anyone, who had the same problem and solved it? Maybe there is something in the lua file which needs to be corrected. Thanks for every help. In the end it was always the same result. the hook is not able to stop the plane. There are no flyable default US Naval planes in the game, that´s right, but I created different mods. I managed to land them on the russian carrier with no problems. So my suspicion is that it has something to do with the US carrier. I also tried to land on the default Vinson. Same same. Even with the su-33! Maybe there is noch such thing for the US carrier, which causes these problems. One is with an empty deck the other one is filled up with some Hornets. If the night Textures are to bright for you, you should open the file:CVN-"77_CarrierNightLIGHTS_1" and reduce the brightness of the Alpha-channel. I am using Sweet fx, which makes the night very dark, thats why the lights might be a bit too bright for users without sweetFX Here are some more pix. Also I am unsure where you would find the script for carrier landings but I recall reading about it once. All three airplanes get bounced back into the air as soon as the hook catches. Landing on the US carrier with a hook is impossible. If I had to guess, I would say the cable force is simply oriented the wrong direction and pushes the player up instead of backwards. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Do you think there is a way to edit the script? I checked the carriers lua. but there is nothing about the landing except the position of the cables and the landing point. I found some videos in the net were people land with the f-18 mod, so it was possible back in the days. I made a landing on the US carrier. But there is still soemthing from. Check the screenshot: What I did is, I changend in the nimitz.lua these parameters, which are the last sentences in the file: GT.attribute = {wsType_Navy,wsType_Ship,wsType_AirCarrier,Kuznecow, "Aircraft Carriers", "cord", "ski_jump", "RADAR_BAND1_FOR_ARM", }; GT.Categories = { {name = "AircraftCarrier"}, {name = "AircraftCarrier With Tramplin"}, {name = "Armed Ship"}, }; I copied the Kuznecow files and pasted them here. So the landing worked. but it seems that the script for the carrier Landing also influences the position of the plane. What if you just try to give the carrier 2 meters more draft than it normally has, so the flight deck has the same level as the russian one, just for testing purposes, to see whether it works correctly then. crazyeddie Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I have been using these Tomcatz mod's for a long time now with a few annoying aircraft parking problems, but not this one. Everything seems to work fine AI for me, I used the Som and Kilo as hosts for The Bush and Loaning, had to change a few things in the lua files and the lod distances but overall they look and work great in AI. I'm assuming you are having this problem when you are flying the aircraft yourself, not AI ? I have not tried that, will give it a go and let you know if I my setup makes any difference.
