P-51 and Helios?

Does the P-51D have the ability to extract gauges with Helios? Anyone have an example to share?

One of these days I need to get that setup and tested. I have owned it for quite some time.

Too bad they did not have modules for some of the other DCS sims as well as IL-2 1946 and Cliffs of Dover. Most of all it is too bad Helios source was not released so the use community could have updated it.

I have been playing around with decompiling Helios to tweak some things. I have been busy with real life so progress is slow. If/when I make progress I will let you know. I will of course contact Craig for permission before I go too far.

I have poked around and it doesnt look too terribly complicated. Assuming Gadroc agrees here is what i plan on doing:

 

1. create a P-51 interface (this will use the default instrument packs available in Helios)

if this works then

2. create P-51 gauges

I havent even looked at how hard this will be. I know there are resource file for the actual images but havent looked at was required code wise.

If i get this far I would love to have some help creating the resource images for the gauges. I am NOT a graphics guy

Whartsel, perhaps if you already attempting to contact him ask about status of v2 code ? Logshot, but since Gadroc intended that one as Open source maybe he will be willing to pass on the WIP material he has? (Last status update was that he has it almost complete and under test IIRC)

Well the P-51 went on sale so I got it. Hoping to see Helios working for it down the road.

From what I have seen hattrick uses it for button and switches only (keyboard commands). I have not seen where he extracts gauges and displays them in Helios.

Hi whartsell, did you get anywhere with this?

 

I may be able to contribute graphics (I made instruments in FSX and Cliffs of Dover) but I don't know how they are coded in DCS.

 

I don't know how to create a Helios P-51D interface :( I have time and I am willing to learn but I need some guidance or perhaps templates to plagiarise.

I am right now extracting the gauges.

 

But i really dont know if so many people flight width this bird. My self dont have any experience on it.

A little update about the P51 project....

 

All the instruments exported and working except the clock and the sweep ball.

Still need to change the scale on the g-meter and improve the graphics

 

Any sugestions ?
