Thx totally forgot about that Mod.. Hmm but why is the fire truck red anyway hehe seems crazy.

On the FPS thing .. I can't believe the only FPS sim out there right now is probably Americas Army. At some point you will be able to drive vehicles in AA but that's a few versions away. I tried the RvS Lockdown demo .. and lets just say I wont be buying the full game ;) . You would have thought that there would be a number FPS military sims out but the reality is there are more flightsims around..

SWAT 4 ain't bad. And there's also "The Regiment", which is a bit too relistic in simulation mode as you can't see what fire mode you're in (which in real life you can)

P.S.

It would be great to make something like OFP, but... with realistically driven and controlled vehicles (as we do it for Ka-50 now).

We can only hope, in fact can we hold you to this in a few years time?

Practically impossible yet, as we have too different engines. Actually I am waiting Armed Assault too. I am a big fun of OFP. ;)

It sounds like personal wishes where to go in a future. :) But who knows...

What's the detail of that vehicles for? Other than eating processor capacity? I never have such a close look to targets when I fly missions!!! And really: I'm not interested in.

Why do they spend their developers capacity to that uninteresting arcade features (my opinion)?

I would really more like: more realistic runways/ airports with runway signs, correct aircraft iluminations (strobe, NAV lights), ILS on every runway and so on.

Why should I spend money for nicer tanks?

Because you'll be taking off / landing right among them at FARPS in LOBS?

If they've got the LOD's working right that's the only time you'll see those models anyway.

Cheers.

Your opinition makes a sence, but... most of these beauties was made not by ED designers...

BTW. What about runway signs? Do you mean Western style runways or something else?

Yeah... like having 3 fps on take off and landing is what I need in an unstable flying platform like helicopter. Woohoo!

The new ground vehicles looks really good... I sure hope they have some more advanced destruction/damage modeling too... maybe a few different wreckage types?

Great models !

Question, are those M60 and M249 on the Stryker operational ? Also on the last new screenshot with the vehicles on columne formation, all units seems to cover a different sector. Is that pure coincidence or updated ground AI ?

Current tanks are cubes above 5 miles. What is slowing down are those models without LOD's on them (those who hog the game when your facing but not seeing them) And the shaders wich take twich as much work to process than the latest standard suported by GFX's.

Thank You for response. I mean any sign which will show me where I find taxiway "B" for example would be helpful.

I think by runway signs, he means the wind nets that hang in real airports to show wind direction, billboards kinda things //see F4// that help direct the aircraft to the right runway etc..

You assume a lot dont you?

So far I have had no performance issues what so ever taking off and landing the Ka-50 on FARPs with multiple new model vehicules parked around and another half a dozen active ones driving towards it.

Well, if FC is anything to be judged upon, I have my doubts that so detailed vehicles have zero impact on the performance.

When it comes to flight sims, the last thing we should be concerned is if some ground vehicle or weapon looks photorealistic. Hardware wise, we are simply nowhere near to the point when we would have problem finding anything else to use cpu cycles.

99.99% of the time you will not see any of this so close to worry if all screws are in the right place on the given 3d models.

Simply, a waste of resources...

I am sure that Russian pilots are not super human and have to learn every taxiway and runway on all airfields they are likely to land at. There must be something (other than follow me trucks) to show them where to go.

But follo wme trucks would be an interesting mod, hopefully stopping all the fools using taxiways as runways, and pulling out halfway along a runway when someone is taking off/landing.

IMHO the point about models vs. fps is a valid one in general, but I think you are in the extreme minority if you spend "99.99%" of the time flying Lock On never seeing the ground/air units up close from the outside . The rest of us, I think, spend quite a bit of time doing just that. Your loss bud, 'cause it's pretty. :D

I agree full heartedly with HedgeHog.

Unless the code is going to optimized much better than it is now, why would anyone what to bogg it down farther? It's a sterile enviorment as it is now for everyone.

I would love to see everything look better. Vehicals, trees, grass planes. Everything!!. But if things in 1.2 have to be MORE sterile to have acceptable frames, that would NOT be acceptable, for me anyway.

PS. I also think that signs on the taxiways that show you the way to the end of your runway would be a GREAT addition to the simulation.

I usually use a GAZ-66 or a UAZ-469 as a follow-me truck in my home made missions to lead me to the runway. Signs would be nice, ditto some type of follow-me truck if indeed they have them on Russian and Ukrainian fields. Some way of setting up an AI follow-me truck that was triggered by my landing so I can follow it to my landing spot would be excellent.

Even after flying Lockon for over 2 years, I still can't remember my way around all the airfields in the Lockon world.
