Remove any mod related to long range visibility, if any is present.

Change your distance level from high to low, to medium in game option and try make a start. Then you can safely go back to high.

This was a situation that it worked for me.

Same deal with me. But very random. Some fixes seem to work , but I can't tell due to the randomness of it.

Yesterday I started a mission 3 times and the first 2 it crashed to unable to load briefing file. 3rd time it worked, no changes on my side. This started for me when I upgraded to 1.2.7 . Have not been able to get any help here either

Thanks guys, today i'm going to remove DCS, and then do a complete re-install of the latest and greatest 1.2.10.30996.495-346 Verrrrrrrrrsion. I remember having installed the greater distance vision or trying to see ground targets/ air targets mod to better see planes! The problem was I couldn't remember where that all went into...

Thanks to the guys that had positive feed back! (YA-All..Helped!) Thanks!!

A complete re-install did the trick!

...Back in the saddle again!...

EDIT;9-3-14

Looking better now... Except that nasty CTD when you try to use the backslash to try and contact the AWAC or tower = "CTD"

This has got to be a known problem...anyone have any input on that?

EDIT; 9-4-14

DCS is "Freezing up!" again now when trying to create a server on ED Net...the mission loads about half way then locks up...this is getting old! We have a new spick and span vinilla set up! And as far as 'my specs" go...I've been making missions and playin DCS for a long time now so no....it's not my flying machine!!! With CA you can play single player all day no crash...but don't push that back-slash key=CTD.... Go to ED Net...with the same mission...awwwww shit....In FC3 Single player is ok , but don't try and contact AWACS AKA the "\" or else ..CTD...Mutiplayer is ok ..but don't go for that backslash or else CTD...hummm anyone have a reasonable explanation as to what is going on?...Besides saying "your CTDing" ....DOOOOOh...burried again....

Deleting the saved game files under C:\user\saved games\dcs worked for me. Hope this helps someone since it looks like a lot of people are having this problem. Also this is not the way I wanted to start playing this SIM. I just D\L'd it last night. It looks like a syntax error in the code.

Hi all,

just want to jump in here as i have the same "Cannot open debriefing file"-crash. I have found out, that this crash always comes up after i have send windows into standby/energy saving mode. A fresh windows restart and everything runs fine again.

Sounds like Memory or Cache is full. The Restart indicates this because it is empty at start up.

Interesting. I often do that while in the ME or after a mission at the debriefing screen - sometimes my DCS "runs" a whole week without restarting it. But somehow I never tried to set the system into standby while a mission was still running.
