joey45 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I'm no show.... which I'm gutted. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. joey45 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Looks doable by train & local transit. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Alicatt Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I hope the weather there is as good as it is here today, little wind and clear skies, sadly they are doing righthand circuits and landing on 23 so I don't get to see much. So far I have heard the C130 coming in at 08:30 and then caught sight of the Mig-29 doing part of it's routine, then the Bronco coming in from the west. Sons of Dogs, Come Eat Flesh Clan Cameron

Ells228 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) Public trying out the Hawk with the Rift. Oh and P-40 reveal in DCS on the laptop ;) Edited September 13, 2014 by Ells228

Ells228 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Yeah we had a great day thanks Phil. Maybe Legends next year, we're having a big get together :)
Charly_Owl Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I cannot wait for these HD screenshots of the P-40! The ones I have seen on the Fighter Collection website looked promising, but were quite small and it left me wanting for more. :D Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Chuck's Guides on Mudspike Chuck's Youtube Channel Chuck's Patreon
JG-1_Vogel Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Managed to get a quick go on the Hawk with the Rift today. Wow, totally immersive and unlike anything I've ever used before. Also the Hawk was great, the resolution on the rift made it hard to make out the dials but the pit looked epic, can't wait for release :D.
Martyn Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I came along just after 1pm with plenty of time left till the flying started, but everything had been shut down and cordoned off, much to my disappointment. Well, I guess everyone needs lunch at some point! :) I know I'm not a forum regular but I was excited to drop by and see some new DCS content, and perhaps try our the Rift and also the TM Warthog. (See if either was worth putting my list to Santa!) Still, it's great that you spread the DCS goodness at these opportunities. Glad you had a good day. Good luck for tomorrow, it'll be busier than ever I expect. Maybe I'll get another chance at Cosford in October.
Ells228 Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Thanks LoneWolf, glad you liked it and very sorry Martyn, we normally pack up about 12.45 :(

NeilWillis Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I don't know if VEAO are attending Cosford. Are there any plans to do so Pman?

I can tell you though the Warthog is a definite purchase. I'm still using my old Cougar from my Falcon days and it's really on it's last legs. I was thinking about getting a cheaper X52 Pro but the Warthog was so precise and so awesome I'm most certainly going to save up for one now. Also, Hawk - Day 1 purchase :D can't wait to fly a BRITISH jet in DCS!
Martyn Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Shame you didn't get to have a go. I can tell you though the Warthog is a definite purchase. I'm still using my old Cougar from my Falcon days and it's really on it's last legs. I was thinking about getting a cheaper X52 Pro but the Warthog was so precise and so awesome I'm most certainly going to save up for one now. I'm using a MS Sidewinder FFB2 and separate Saitek throttle quadrant. I can just get by in the A-10C with its limited buttons, with only one important hat switch still assigned to the keyboard (thank heaven for the customer 'modifiers' section). I also fly the helicopters, and here's where I'm not so sure if the Warthog is the right stick. Big, heavy, stiff springs, and obviously a loss of the excellent force trim function, so I'd definitely like to try it out first. Thanks for the recommendation though. Never say never! :) I've no idea if VEAO will be at Cosford - it was wishful thinking! It was also part assumption that someone there will have DCS up and running there, perhaps with a Warthog and maybe the Occulus Rift. Or if not, maybe one or the other will be available to try out in another sim. I didn't arrive at Duxford till just after 11am, and after entertaining our toddler for a while was a bit late heading over. I'll know for future though!
Axion Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Had a great time yesterday which was only made better by meeting Chris, Tango, Rob, Pete and Jim. Not to mention a couple of fellow 159th squaddies. Cheers Chris for taking time out to demonstrate the Hawk in the Rift and many thanks to Pete for the P-40F preview! That P-51D throttle felt as though it had came straight from a working pit, very solidly built with butter smooth rotary action. A fantastic must have for anyone who is considering a home built pit based around this aircraft. Cheers gents, see you next year! JG-1_Vogel Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Aye that throttle looked ace, not to my taste though I dislike flying the WWII a/c in DCS when I've got modern jets and heli's to choose from!
Ells228 Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Was great meeting you guys and glad you got to see what we had on show. No plans to be at Cosford sim show this year but most likely next year for the main air show with some great events. We'll be back at Dux for the May show and a bigger event for Legends next year. Thanks, Chris.
Pman Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Absolutely, It was a stunning weekend, Met alot of people who were very receptive to DCS and the sim in general. Im sure there are even a few photos lurking around as well! Going to miss Duxford for a few weeks until we are back for more research for the Spitfire XIV! Pman
Random Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Was good to meet all the VEAO guys (again). The enthusiasm they show for their work and DCS in general is impressive and I'm sure theres a few more people giving DCS a try because of their efforts at Duxford and other shows!
