I've been running the W10 tech preview for a while now and it seems to be holding up just fine.

The only quirk that I've found is that I can't use the hotkeys for my headtracking while that application is in the background. That means that I have to alt-tab out of DCS to recenter or pause headtracking. But TBH, I've done zero research on how to solve this.

That works fine on my system, but the Saitek profiler is broken in thhe latest build, i.e. one button press results in a very fast repetition of the programmed key press. This is an issue normally due to a very specific teamspeak setting, but I do not have that program installed currently.

Do you have UAC on? Turn it off and see if this fixes the problem with head tracking keys.

Win 95 nay

Win98 yay

Windows millennium nay

Windows Xp yay

Windows Vista nay

Windows 7 yay

windows 8 nay

Windows 10=.... (insert predictable pattern result here)

I don't really agree with this. It's not because it's metro UI that it isn't working OK.

I made the switch from 7 to 8, played around a bit with the metro interface, installed a 3th party startbutton proggy + to make it boot directly to regular desktop (last part isn't needed anymore since 8.1) and i never looked back.

This is the first OS that's installed for over a year without the need to re-installing it, says enough about it's stability.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

I have to agree with this. I can find nothing fundamentally wrong with Win8/8.1. I have been running it on my sim pit and another multi-purpose desktop with no issues for at least a year now.

To make the new version APPEAR to be more substantial than it is.. (And sometimes to move as far away from a previous kludge as possible.. )

In this case I think probably BOTH

I would say you are right, most people listened to all the negativity surrounding Win 8 and never gave it a shot. Granted at first you have to use an add-on if you wanted the desktop and start menu back.

10 looks and acts more like Win 7 so people can make the move without thinking there are issues. As it is, 8.1 is rock solid IMO and as chiclidfan stated, I can't tell you the last time I saw the metro screen.

I never tried Win 8. This is my general impression from opinions of people I know IRL and some articles I read over the internet.
