PLAAF Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Not sure about the "legendary" part but, otherwise, yes this is the one. Haven't been very active over the last several years because of time constraints. You may not believe so Richard. But you a hero to the beginners of combat flight simulation. Remind me when I was new to this a few years back, I got a lot of help from your video.:smartass: Holiday is coming soon, if you have time, may I ask for a chance to fly with the legendary Ironhand, please? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 15, 2014 ED Team Posted November 15, 2014 Watched many of your video tutorials Ironhand, they have been invaluable for me learning combat flight sims. Would be great to see updated ones, I hope one day you get the time. Thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Remind me when I was new to this a few years back, I got a lot of help from your video.:smartass: Holiday is coming soon, if you have time, may I ask for a chance to fly with the legendary Ironhand, please? :) I was simply trying to help people out at a time when there was very little help to be had. And I have to admit that I was very surprised at the response I got, when I once mentioned awhile back that I was planning to close the website. At the moment I am creaking with rust. But, if I can get enough of it off that I won't embarrass either myself or you, then meeting online will be a possibility. :) But "legendary"? I have a hard time with that one. apoll Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Credit where credit is due, Rich. Your training tracks and missions were simply superb. I am still using your F-15 tutorials to get a handle on the radar, etc. If I was anyone with any influence in ED, I would put you on a retainer to do a whole new set of advanced training missions for the F-15 and SU-27. Wags, how about it? This guy produced some of the best training missions for DCS. Bar none. Apoll

You are downplaying your own importance, sir. Thanks to your videos back in the day, I learned to fly everything that was available in LOMAC. PLAAF Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 There'll still be too much rust next week. :) But hopefully before the end of the year. Right now I'm learning how to fly again. No way, I expect you to be way better than I am no matter how much rust you have. Besides, I haven't flight for 2 years. So let's un-rust together. I am really looking forward to learn from you. Smokin Hole Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 (edited) First let me join the Party and say hello and thanks to Ironhand for serving the Flanker community so well years ago. And Second, Wow! is right. The Su27 now flys like it looks. And the cobra is such a joy to do when I pull it off "correctly" (and such a horror when I screw it up). Landings are fun to but if I use the HUD speeds the dutch rolls get dangerous. I find that whatever speed yields 11 AOA works well. Edited November 19, 2014 by Smokin Hole

I've never used the HUD speeds myself, even with the old SFM. And now I just use what the aircraft tells me to use...and she speaks her mind freely. At least, I think that's the one where I spend most of the tutorial talking about it. It's somewhere on the Flight Basics page. I probably mention it in others, though. Funny that you should mention it. To this day, unless I have a good reason not to do so, I always set the HUD to "Pilot" mode, once I have the field in sight. I find the extra nav data annoying. Same with free flight. Ahh...The Ironhand. Glad to see I'm not the only relic left from Flanker days. Didn't you once made your site desert camo color? It's good to see that there are still a number of us relics around. :) Desert camo? Not that I can recall. But it all started a long time ago. OnlyforDCS Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Just wanted to chime in and say thank you as well. Even though I pretty much had the theoretical workings of the F15C radar down, it was only after digesting your tutorials that I actually had some inkling of what the hell I was actually doing in the cockpit.
