SFC Tako Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Until yesterday evening I could do pretty much everything with the radio via easy communications enabled coupled with the communications button. Talk to ATC, order troops to embark, talk to groundcrew etc...but then tonight it just won't work  So I've gone through some older posts and yes, I could see that my FM/AM-switch was set to FM but changing that over to AM doesn't help and setting the correct ATC frequency manually doesnt help either (with using the correct radio button). And yeah, I've tried starting from ramp, hotstart, in midair etc. I even read some old stuff about loading up a mission, then changing some little detail, saving it and then viola! But no no no  Now then...is it just me? As it is now I have no comms at all. My Semi-Pro Youtube Channel
ricktoberfest Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Make sure the switch on the radio isn't in the intercom position. When you press right-alt / it should say above the menu what radio you are using (should be the r-828 I believe). Also should be AM
SFC Tako Posted December 5, 2014 Author Posted December 5, 2014 Gonna check on that. The main thing bothering me is just how the rug can be pulled from under you like this. My Semi-Pro Youtube Channel
SFC Tako Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 Tried turning off easy comms, shutdown game, turn it on again...no good. Tried manually using the radio - it said INTERCOM!!! Switched to actually using the radio (yes, I can see that I'm using the r-828 )...no good. Tried switching to AM...no good. Set the frequency manually for the correct tower...no good. Tried out a different mission for my Huey where I KNOW the easy comms have been working...same crap there as well :) Dear oh dear...maybe I must learn the proper radio routines as well. Personally I think radio comms on full simulator mode is crazy donkey shit. They can make a specific simulator for that instead, then all radioheads can sit around fiddling with the squelch as much as they like. Me, I want Boris the technician to handle all comms for me. But anyways, easy comms is screwed up for both Huey and Mi-8 now  My Semi-Pro Youtube Channel
Cibit Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 ah check the radio key for the pilot on the cyclic ins options. It defaulted to Intercom with latest patch in my profile. You need 2 separate radio triggers for intercom and radio in the options. However the AI will never talk to me so intercom seems superfluous till we get multi crew in MP Hope this helps:) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
SFC Tako Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 That was good info, I assigned the triggers for two separate buttons and tried it out. I still don't get the F7 option for ground troops when I'm using the radio at the correct frequency but now as I'm trying out all different sorts of combos, I noticed that when I have easy comms ON I can't just talk to any ATC tower just like that, but I DO get in contact with them using my newly assigned radio button having entered their respective frequencies (and when using easy comms I get all frequensies listed). But still, the ground troop F7 eludes me. Also, I have to dial in to VHF AM to use the radio button correctly - otherwise when I press it it just says INTERCOM from the start (which is logic...or not, I'm doing this with easy comms on) Intercom button always says INTERCOM though. Just a thought: Am I in some kind of limbo between easy comms and hard comms? As I'm quite disoriented by now I can't remember properly but did one have to enter the frequencies manually for different ATCs when using easy comms before? I have to do that now anyways. AND BIG THANKS FOR THE ATTENTION! My Semi-Pro Youtube Channel
ED Team NineLine Posted December 8, 2014 ED Team Posted December 8, 2014 You have to chose the radio, ie AM or FM or intercom... I am positive you didnt need to do this before, but that is how it is now. so it only auto-tunes the frequency, not the radio. 159th_Falcon Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Problem is though, whatever key you use you always end up on the intecom. was trying a SP squad mission tonight and radio worked OK (\ for normal radio menu, Ralt \ for R 863) When i continued startup procedure by starting engines and flicking the switches etc i noticed that when i switched on the RI 65 voice system the radio switched to intercom and i was not able to get it to the R 863 no matter what i tried. So i could be doing something wrong, but this behaviour doesn't seem right to me. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)

Again I am over my head with the Mi-8, but when it says intercom, is there a key command to switch to which ever radio you require? 159th_Falcon Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Not that i could find, in the controls if you select each radio from the dropdown you only have frequency tuning, volume adjustment, but no "activation" command. if you pick the INS Cyclic, you get two options; Radio Triger ICS, Rshift spacebar Radio Triger Radio, Ralt \ the \ command is listed as communication menu Those three are all i could find. Could make a track showing the behaviour i guess, but is there a way to make the key presses i perform visible? Otherwise it seems of little use. ED Team NineLine Posted December 8, 2014 ED Team Posted December 8, 2014 I'll see if I can drum up someone more in tune with the Mi-8, I think I have shown my Mi-8 ignorance enough :D Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
159th_Falcon Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Aaahhh, was just about to get the popcorn and beer emoticons out for ya. Thank's for the help your always showing to the community though SiThSpAwN, people don't always say it but its greatly appreciated by many. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
SFC Tako Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 In the Mi-8 overhead console you can choose about five different radiosystems and also, the default radioband is now set to FM. There's also a switch for that on the overhead console. From having the big radio switch to УКР (means UKR in latin letters) I believe you get the R-863 working but remember to flick from spu to rad (СПУ-РАД) and flick the AM/FM switch to AM...pheeew...THEN I believe I've been able to talk to ATCs...but no ground troops ;) Or did I do all this with the 828? Hell I don't rememeber. I JUST WANT EASY COMMS! C'mon, dumb it down for us - let Boris the technician do all the the comms! Let ME fly! :joystick: My Semi-Pro Youtube Channel
Spectre_USA Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 A big +1 to SFC Tako's comment. My issue is some weird hybrid of what good ol' Easy Comms used to be. The F10 menu seems to work, when available, as does the F8 ground crew. But my wingamn, AWACS and Tower are all non-responsive, sort of. My wingie calls out targets, says rejoin, and I hear my comms to him, in the A-10C, but he never does a blessed thing. Attack armor, silence. Attack air defenses at my SPI with Maverick, crickets. Anchor here, nada. He is just a missile magnet. I can't even tell his worthless self to go home. Why is easy comms such a target for coders to play around with? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] A tale of 2 hogs

SFC Tako Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) Ahem...wait one second...I think I had to just flick ONE more switch. Yeah, I think it read "SLU" in cyrillic (which might mean "listen"). Anyways, make sure it's not in that mode. THEN you might just be able to transmit. I'm on a train right now and won't be able to sort this out properly for you the next five days :( Edited December 23, 2014 by SFC Tako My Semi-Pro Youtube Channel
Spetz Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I got my radio working last night using the RALT+/ command, but every station shows up twice in the menu now. I haven't flown the Hip that much, is that normal?
SFC Tako Posted December 25, 2014 Author Posted December 25, 2014 No, it sure is NOT normal. Also, just one more thing about manual radio...I believe there's channel selection involved as well. It shouldn't mean squat but I could only send if I had channel 3 selected (?!?!). But OK, easy comms are somewhat working now... My Semi-Pro Youtube Channel
