Sabre-TLA
I was going to vote no thinking "Did the F-104 even see combat?" But yes it did according to this website: "F-104Cs served in South East Asia (SEA) in 1965-66 and 1966-67 during two separate deployments. Over the course of these two deployments, seven F-104s were lost to enemy ground defenses; one F-104 was shot down by an enemy aircraft, and no enemy aircraft were engaged by F-104s while flying escort or CAP missions. It has been said that the F-104s "never had a mission and never made a mark" in SEA. Misconceptions, myth and misinformation about the F-104 have led to this impression. The facts tell a different story. By 1964, the USAF's only primary air superiority aircraft , the F-104C, had been forward deployed on several occasions to project US power and assure control of the air during world crises. The F-104 was widely regarded as the world's foremost daylight air-to-air platform, and the pilots of TAC's 479th TFW, the only operators of the F-104C, had proven themselves to be masters of their trade in numerous mock air-to-air encounters. It was therefore understood that the F-104Cs of the 479th's 435th, 436th or 476th TFSs would rapidly deploy to any troublespot where air superiority must be quickly established. Such a spot was SEA in 1965." MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates

WildBillKelsoe
an A-7 Corsair would be my purchase though... AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow. emg
I'd much prefer the F-105. Saw a heck of a lot more action I understand, drops a heck of a lot of bombs, and actually shot down Migs in North Vietnam (24.5 vs 0 for the F-105)! :) I'm afraid the air war was a lot hotter than that, USAF does acknowledge 17 F-105 to have been lost in air-to-air combat. On the other side, seventeen F-105s claimed by the North Vietnamese to have been downed by MiGs have been correlated with known USAF air-to-air losses. North Vietnam also claims that an additional 10 F-105s acknowledged by the USAF to have been lost to ground fire or other causes were actually lost to MiGs. http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_fighters/f105_5.html Btw Joe Baugher's site and Greg Goebel's http://www.airvectors.net are very good sites if one wants to look up older combat aircraft. I was going to vote no thinking "Did the F-104 even see combat?" But yes it did according to this website: "F-104Cs served in South East Asia (SEA) in 1965-66 and 1966-67 during two separate deployments. Ulanthorn
Yes I would like a modernized Starfighter like the F-104G used by the Luftwaffe till 1991. It had better Radar, IRST, reinforced undercarriage and improved flaps for better manouverability.

GodsPrototype
not another outdated, outclassed bird... we have F-86 and that is as good. Lets try and get the F/A-18C / E into DCS, then we can worry about old birds/choppers... I agree with you. I have bought a lot of aircraft for DCS (every module so far) but many I have bought just to support the developers. I primarily just fly in the A-10C, and the only fighter jet I like to fly once in a while is the F-15C, which is a Flaming Cliffs aircraft. I really need a high fidelity modern Western fighter jet, because that's all I've actually been waiting for in DCS for the past 3 years I've been using this sim. The only news that actually makes me excited now is the new engine, but I think that will wear off quickly once it's released, as I still wont have my fighter jet. OnlyforDCS
No. Apart from the coolness factor, this is a rather poor jet. It wasnt called the widowmaker for no reason you know. Random
Absolutely. Great partner for the Mig21 and VEAO's planned EE Lightning. As to the usual "not another old junker" posts. This is just a poll. Dont worry! ED aren't gonna abandon the F/A-18 they are making based on a poll on the forums. As to it being a bit rubbish... Thats why I like it! It's the flaws in something that gives it character. Edited January 28, 2015 by Random

Zilch
Would I buy it? Probably, since I buy it all. Would I prefer an F-5, if we're going with that era? Yes. Actually, the in my opinion, the best possible aircraft to add to DCS from the era would be an OV-10 Bronco...that plane did a bit of everything, and was carrier capable, to boot.
