If they announced A-6, I'd seriously message Cobra or someone and demand to know the earliest time I could lock down a preorder of the A-6.

I'd actually look forward to that over the F-14.

I fear it may never happen because of the bias against non sleek, non single-seat fighter planes

i wouldnt say that, most folks just want to have a true multirole single seat BEFORE other more specialiced aircraft, so that the latter complements the former one and not the other way around ;)

personaly i'm with them, but i'm patient and enjoy flying other stuff while waiting :D

for the original hint:

some things were close, but i havent seen anything that i would say is matching the picture, very curious what it is ;)

Well judging by the thread title its a 2 character designation, so all you guys need to do is to look at the ones with plain and simple 2 character designation, be it NATO/GRAU, doesn't matter.

That was probably Rudel making a Famly Guy reference:

I'm still sceptical, IMO it would be completely nuts to release Raiden instead of Zero as the first Japanese aircraft. Also the irl gear of J2M (in at least the picture i found) is different. Maybe ESA_maligno did that model himself and imported it to DCS just to troll us ? *foil hat off*

Just reading the forum ...... ED, from the creators of B29 .......

Not saying it's RAIDEN ..... but that model has the same landing gear ...., .... only that, each draw their own conclusions ....

This makes me feel like Rudel is just trolling us since the picture you found is pretty much exact, yet it doesn't match the RL version!

I'll bet it's a simplification of the real design, so we aren't going to be able to find an exact match.

If the gear is not just outright misdirection, it has to be a Raiden.

So, here's a crazy theory - the "modern" aircraft is a B-29 (service time overlaps with MiG-21)! The Raiden is the "WW2" one.

No, I'm not insane. Leatherneck mentioned ground radar. Behold.

A Raiden AND a B-29? Now that would be a downer if it really turns out there's no true 'modern' add-on forthcoming soon (besides the Tomcat).

There are too many late-war "superfighters" and not enough content for an interesting WW2 scenario. The other companies aren't helping much - it's just a whole flock of warbirds. Realistic and interesting scenarios require different aircraft types.

The B-29 makes a lot of sense. We know they are developing a crew AI for the F-14, and B-29 would be a useful test bed, with fewer systems for the AI to operate. It has surface radar. It's an aircraft used mainly in the Pacific - and all the hints point to that theater, if not a particular aircraft. It's also a fun, asymmetric opponent to the Raiden.

If they're not making a Raiden and B-29...they should :D

It's subjective, but personally I don't see how an "interesting WWII scenario" and the B-29/Raiden package go together in the same context :)

IMHO, it somehow sounds even less fun then German bombing missions of Battle of Britain or German bomber intercepts of late war.

Just to be clear, I liked the two B-17 games, but they also had a management factor, something which DCS World lacks.

It is, of course, subjective. What's not subjective is that there are too many goddamn B-17 simulators out there. It's literally the only bomber anyone bothered with in simulators before Il-2 turned the world upside down with the revelation that there were other bombers in World War 2 :megalol:

Apparently even announcements of modules are subject to delays. :D

Sadly I have to agree :(

Ugh, really would've prefered any other Japanese fighter over the Raiden :(

I wouldn't mind the Mitsubishi J2M Raiden, maybe Rudel can put the Mortal Kombat character named Raiden on his next avatar picture hint to make it official.:smilewink:If it is,then what is the third aircraft,is it World War II or Modern. If it's for WWII,i hope it's the P-38 Lightning. For modern,Mig-25 Foxbat.

But then you'll have people mispronouncing it. Raiden is pronounced Rye-den (with Rye rhyming with tie, lie, fry).

However the MK character, although spelt Raiden, is pronounced Ray-den (many westerners make this pronunciation error).

That gear does look just like the render. However, this picture is from the last J2M in decent condition (per the caption):

This gear looks different, more like the Zero. Could it be a restoration issue?

I figure that all questions will be answered soon (I hope!).

Seems like they must be working hard on something, Cobra hasn't posted something for more than 2 weeks and that seems pretty unusual. Same for Rudel (who is a bit more sporadic with posting), but has barely said a thing save for this post.

Perhaps it's because they are working hard on one of these unannounced modules, may be it will be announced shortly before it is released...I feel like being optimistic tonight.

Yak 9 looks right to me, we have some of the best German, US and shortly British fighters in the game. It would seem likely that a Russian company would want a high performance Russian piston engined fighter to compliment that line up. And the Yak 9 was very good.
