leafer Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I know I'm probably way late, but oh my... That HUD! Man I love the HUD! When I first saw it, it's like biting in to a really sweet grape and find there're no seeds, also! It's that sweet! I've alway wanted to look around in a cockpit like that. And finally, data on the HUD appears to float on the glass. And the way the data partially disappeared when you view it from different angels. I still can't believe it. They finally did it. Don't you just love it when a feature you've been wanting since you were a siming infant comes true? What else... Oh yeah, the MFD! I'm guessing we'll have moving map? Yeah, bet we do. What else is there? Do we need a full-blown helicopter collective thingy to fly this thing or a jet throttle will do. Btw, what's 'advanced dynamic' and what do we get with this 'account all forces for each blade of rotors' thing? And who's flying the demo? How long will it take one to take off and land this thing without crashing? cheers ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

But you can reprogram the route and waypoints while in-game and such. The advanced dynamics are what I've been dreaming about ever since I played a chopper sim, as is the ejection seat, as I have a thing for them. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:

hitman Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Its an unhealthy obsession he has with ejection seats...he knows FAR more about ejection seats than the average person should...=\ I call it the ejection seat fetish.

It's a little more than 'just a moving map' that is the basic functionality yes, but to call it 'just a moving map' is a gross oversimplification ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Shepski Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 It's not an MFD... it's the ABRIS fully programmable and highly functional moving map GPS... and nothing more. :)
Weta43 Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 So it's a very complicated to use SFD ???? Someone asked above & I'll ask a different way - how hard is the Ka-50 to fly compared to say the Su-25T - A scale with the change from SFM Su027 to AFM su-25T being "1"? Is there anyone who's beta testing who hadn't flown a chopper sim at all before, who's prepared to say how difficult they found it (or easy). Cheers.
GGTharos Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I will be more difficult than the Su-25T I think ... unless you fly at (relatively) high altitude, but then every SAM and fighter in the area will just eat you alive. Is there anyone who's beta testing who hadn't flown a chopper sim at all before, who's prepared to say how difficult they found it (or easy). It's not an SFD... :) It's a GPS unit... we call it the ABRIS and it has many functions and will be coming with it's own manual but for normal operation it's quite easy once you figure out what functions are on what pages. The Ka-50 is more difficult to fly and will require use of the control aids like the trimmer and autopilot functions to help you. I have flown Longbow 1/FPK/2 and Team Apache and the Ka-50 in Black Shark is more lively by miles... You can't even compare. The Ka-50 feels alive when you fly it and you must work to stay on top of the machine... especially with manual control. Take this as work in progress feedback as the FM is still being worked on and control systems are being implemented.
Ice Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I like to think of it like riding a pushbike with no handlebars at the moment :joystick:
104th_Crow Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Right now, for me, its like being tied to a camera chair outside everyone's aircraft. (Joystick still in the shop).:joystick: Service Before Self Fedeltier (Fuselier Forever) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Rastus Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 As for BS being harder to fly, it is in its current beta state, but as we get closer to release, I imagine it will get a bit easier. Its hard to fly like the 25T was when it first came out. With practice & understanding of its abilities and systems, a lot of people will find the Black Shark to be the most exciting & rewarding aircraft in the game. Dont forget this is a completely different aircraft & can't really be compared to the Jets or even the "T". Cheers.
brewber19 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Great info, thanks to all testers and Shepski for the replies, grateful to see guys still posting even when all around you whine their...er..."bits" off. Hope to continue to be drip-fed info...I'll lap it all up (and continue to fly my beloved T in the meantime :D) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 487th Helicopter Attack Regiment, of the VVS504 Red Hammers

I remember when I first started flying in a real fixed-wing aircraft and thought it was pretty easy. Then I took helicopter lessons later...............OMG. THAT was difficult. DPS Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Might need to invest in one of these http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_product_details&pid=64 I had a go at rotary wing in FS2004 and it's not so easy - but that might be just FS2004. leafer Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 Thanks for all the info. So it's hard to fly, good! We know hard is short for hard-core! :D Helicopter collective control for flight sim. kinda expensive but nice don't even look at the price probably the most affordable ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted May 16, 2006 ED Team Posted May 16, 2006 Well, when i fired up Black shark for the first time myself, i had never really flown a chopper in any sim at all.. So...i managed to crash just after a couple of take-offs, but it won't really take you long before you can do what i did: Land on roof-tops, landing on ships, or even moving trains. It's really a lot of fun, even if the FM is still beeing updated. But, i'm not saying im a pro, nor am i saying it is easy to fly. It's a challenge, but it is jollgy good fun! :P Black Shark is really something to look forward to guys ;) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
