That works for me! How often is this updated?

It's a statement of intent that hasn't been updated so far. It was released a year ago or so.

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

I can tell its pretty close from final release. Some bird sang a song.

#I've been dreaming about an unlicensed version of the MIG-31...

Imagine a construction company that builds a great house in exception of windows, rear cargo doors and no water closet at all. Buyers spent money for the house which remains that way for 3 years and going. Meanwhile the constructor company gets to build more building$

That feel.

Hmm ... was just about to buy the module, and then I find this thread. I might wait.

"A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft."

Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps

Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!

... because of the not animated windshield wipers, right?

No you clown, because it's still in flippin' Beta after 3 years and there are a number issues highlighted in the thread.

The major one for me is the manual still being in draft mode after three years.

I'm not paying approx AUD $60 - 70 for a 3 year old draft manual mate ... especially as I don't speak Russian or read Cyrillic.

I prepaid for the F5 but as I'm more into helicopters and WWII birds I think I sent the wrong message to Belsimtek and ED ... yeah stupid of me I know, I've got a stable of DCS fast movers and I don't fly ANY of them because they bore me to tears lol. Same goes for the A-10.

So my new resolution; to be a bit more discerning before shelling out for these modules.

The WWII birds and the Huey are DCS as far as I'm concerned ... at present.

Your choice, of course, but it's a brilliant module nevertheless.

The most glaring omission is a completed manual, but you can operate the bird just fine using RL documentation - which, I think, is a testimonial of sorts as it comes to how great this bird really is. So if you're into "unarmed combat aviation support roles" as your signature says, then please, do yourself an elephant-sized favour and get this chopper NOW ;)

PS. The Mi-8 is actually more completed than the Huey which you seem to have already, so what are you waiting for really?

Rightio ... this is the sort of advocacy I'm looking for from a source that I trust (and why I'm going through old threads):D

I don't suppose you can point me to a source for said RL manuals? I'm not having much luck in that department (I've already downloaded the Belsimtek draft manual).

Edit: Thanks Msalama (long time ... haven't been around for a while). Bought and downloading.

This link should download the TSMO (U.S. Army) operator's manual:

If that doesn't work, the manual that most seem to find useful (Americans, anyway) is TM 1-TSMO-Mi-17-10

Thanks!

Google "TSMO-Dash-10-TM-1-1520-Mi-17-10-Apr-07.pdf" and download it. It should be freely available, or at least was when I got it. The enclosed checklist works fine if you skip over the MAWS section since our bird doesn't have one.

S!

Yes indeed I am glad you got it, it is without doubt the best module in DCSW bar none if you like rotary craft.

The learning to fly is a great experience but it the systems that are moddeled that really brings this bird alive for me.

PM me if your stuck finding documentation I have some stuff on my HDD that may be of use

Also I made some video's link in sig which may help lessen the learning curve and welcome to the elite DCS heavy lift community;)

Thanks for the welcome Cibit.

I've been practicing the hover to try to get her measure; must say she enters vortex ring state very quickly. I'm obviously not flying her by the numbers yet (just flying by the seat of my pants) but I find at this stage that the Huey is a LOT more forgiving.

So far I have "TSMO-Dash-10-TM-1-1520-Mi-17-10-Apr-07", a Foreign Technology Division document for the Mi-8 and the Belsimtek draft manual. I'll take anything on offer to wrap my head around this helicopter. I'm obviously in for a bit of study.

I just checked your Youtube channel ... I already a subscribed yesterday while searching the net for some info. Great channel!

Real Mils ring so easily due to their long, narrow and light blades (in fact some have weights on the tips and they're still so floaty).

Btw, looks like complaining sometimes worths

Add animation for Rotor Swash Plate and TailRotor Hub

I don't care you can't see them from the cockpit

Teapot, in the real thing, during hovering or slow flight, the pilots avoid descending faster than 3 m/s and dropping collective below 3 degrees. These figures seem to work very well in DCS Hip too. Stick to them and You'll never experience VRS again.
