acdelta57 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 (edited) Oh man what a blast today, carrier ops (carrier kamakazie if you are Bert) in warbirds, and off road back country bush flying while trying to refuel and re arm on FARPs :D ! After many (10-20) failed attempts Nasa landed on carrier then myself. In the pics you may see another crazy warbird using the carrier as a ski jump!....note the splashes from the ocean, this is where he went to find Nemo...:pilotfly: Hope you found Nemo in the ocean Bert! Not to mention how I was literally crying from laughing so hard whilst watching Bert do his famous, "SimultaneousEngineStartFullThrottleTakeOff" :megalol: You know its bert talking on teamspeak when all you hear in the background is mouse clicks from a madman trying to start up fast as possible to go slam the carrier again! acdelta57 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Lol, I'll break your record, just give me a thirty-three and a few hours at the tanker :smilewink: No seriously, tell me how far you fly in distance and time aloft, I'll take some time to see if I can break it without landing. doodenkoff Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Why am I not able to re-arm/refuel at a FARP? It works at the start of the flight, but not if I land later and want to remove the weapons for instance. Win 10 | i7 4770 @ 3.5GHz | 32GB DDR3 | 6 GB GTX1060

acdelta57 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Well today was our first attempt at the world record cross country, I would say it was semi-successful as we ran out of time to make it all the way to our last stop, but we were able to successfully land at kutasi. Journey started out a little rocky. C101 tried to land at krasnodar with no gear and the Hawk forgot to flare. So right off the bat we were delayed about 45 minmutes which is what prohibited us to finish all the way to batumi. However once we took off from Krasnodar on the way to Maykop things started to smooth out. The 3 ship was separated due to pilot error and the stranded Hawk ended up getting R27ERd to the face after becoming hypoxic and blacking out at 17,000'. Now we are down to a flight of 2, C101 and L39. Our next segment had us departing Maykop eastbound to Nalchik via Mineralyne VOR. However over the course of 140NM several surprises came upon us. Moderate ice was encountered and forced our 2 ship to climb rapidly at full military power. In the frantic climb the C101 forgot to switch fuel tanks and lost engine power. An airborne restart was attempted then failed due to fuel pump positioning. (pilot error) However the second re-light attempt was successful thanks to flight lead guiding the scared trainee through the procedures. Once the Engine was recovered the pitot static system iced over on the C101 and forced him into a dive to get out of the icing and find warmer temperatures. He eventually found his anti-ice switch and turned it on.... Rejoined with about 50NM to way point Nalchik beautiful screen shots were taken during the sunset flight and approach. We tuned in the ILS and did practice ILS landing. The next segment of flight had us crossing very rough high altitude terrain and dark was fast approaching. Hot refueling procedures at Nalchick and the 2 ship was off to brave the mountains. ***meanwhile mr hawk pilot has been on an intercept heading full military power to intercept our position*** We began flying up a small mountain valley below the cloud layer. Rapidly realizing the mountains are becoming obscured by low level clouds we begin a max power climb. Completely in instrument meteorological conditions and in high terrain at night...bad situation. Luckly the C101 broke through the top of the layer and frantically told flight lead to climb as fast as possible. Struggling to maintain airspeed as is I pitched up to brink of stall. Eclipsing the cloud layer I noticed we were heading straight for the tallest peak!:surrender: Clearing the side of the mountain by less than 50' crisis was averted and we re joined tight formation to capture a few more shots of the terrain above the clouds. *at this point the hawk is only 5 miles to intercept us! he pulls up to clear terrain, blacked out, stalled and ended up a smoking hole in the mountains north of Kutasi..RIP Cravgar:worthy: Server running short on time we max power fly to Kutasi and land successfully, however still about 60NM short of our original intended destination of Batumi...maybe next time.:pilotfly: For just a flight with no weapons it was still action packed and we were all exhausted after nearly 2+ hours of constant flight, refueling, instrument navigation, and system failures. Maybe next time we will leave a bit earlier:thumbup: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]1000 miles of road will take you around town, a 1000 feet of runway can take you around the world...unless your in a Huey, you can go anywhere with no runway in a Huey! multiplayer name ''DustOff=3=6''

HAHAHA nice. My friend and I often just partake in just flying ; that's fun, especially with the AWACS telling me if a threat in coming. However, your journey brought closer and closer to red AWACS detection zone and further and further from yours. I am glad the C101EB are so soon used. Batumi should be a delivery point that needs stuff :) I didn't know people would look at the unit lifetime info :) I added this to maybe put some team kill immunity to temp-fix offences you get when DCS FARP-spawn you into people. But then, I properly fixed the FARP spawn and left the infos! Edited September 22, 2016 by Mirknir Mirknir My old server: The Thread
acdelta57 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Batumi should be a delivery point that needs stuff :) ! JDarksword Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Hey is there a working jtac for this server? Not that I know of, there is the F10 radio menu for finding targets etc. Mainly just follow that and manually target. "Though I fly through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil. doodenkoff Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I'll be darned...a single Huey can completely take out a Listening Post. Be very precise with your rocket aiming on the towers and you'll have plenty remaining to take out the Mi8s. I had discovered the night before that using guns on the grounded Mi8s seemed to have little effect. Win 10 | i7 4770 @ 3.5GHz | 32GB DDR3 | 6 GB GTX1060

Be very precise with your rocket aiming on the towers and you'll have plenty remaining to take out the Mi8s. I had discovered the night before that using guns on the grounded Mi8s seemed to have little effect. A single Huey can take out listening post and incursion in one go with only 14 rockets. Here's a secret, are you loading explosive packs? F10 menu F10 again and F6. You can load 2. Plant one near each tower, use guns only on all soft targets, even mi8! Just be accurate. Then get to a safe distance! F10 f10 f6 to detonate. Boom post is down. Nap of the earth to incursion, maintain as fast as comfortable using ridge for cover pop up and have a high speed rocket run on BTR. Load the rockets that are MK 5HE (last option on re arming menu) these are anti tank warheads. Just a few hits and BTR will go down easy. Then use AI gunners to spot soldiers while orbiting at 2500' then eliminate the rest of soldiers with either AI or when you get more practice user controlled door gun. Also take 50% fuel. More maneuverable, and that will last you about 2.5 hours of normal flight time  Good luck rotor brother [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]1000 miles of road will take you around town, a 1000 feet of runway can take you around the world...unless your in a Huey, you can go anywhere with no runway in a Huey! multiplayer name ''DustOff=3=6''
doodenkoff Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Thanks, I'll try that. I need a correct shutdown procedure as well. Apparently, I shut down at an airfield incorrectly and could not refire the engines after fuel and arming. Win 10 | i7 4770 @ 3.5GHz | 32GB DDR3 | 6 GB GTX1060

Mirknir Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) Hey Mirknir, is there a list of mods that are not permitted on the server? Last few times I tried to connect, my client was "not pure". Sure would like to do my A-10C training on your great server. Thank you sir. The server doesn't allow or not mods ; ED's integrity check does. The server just requires ED's integrity check to pass. It's a small difference but it means I don't have control over what files the integrity is checking. To know what mods is breaking your Integrity Check, you can click on the red shield and have a list of failing files. Then, you can identify what's wrong. I know for example, textures addon are ok if you don't install the changes to shadow.lua Here is an example of how my local changes to edit my map breaks my integrity check. Btw, these changes to add every vehicles to every countries shouldn't break the check for example. I have to revert these changes when I go from map edition to playing on the server  Edited September 25, 2016 by Mirknir Mirknir My old server: The Thread

Mirknir Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) Hmmm, bunch of us weren't able to refuel rearm in various airframes after taking off and landing again. I was in a huey, friends in a gazelle and A-10C. Anyone else getting this? Ground just doesn't copy. I didnt change anything about this but there was a new patch so maybe something changed. I know the AWACS is sometimes spamming too much and prevent other messages to go thru. Any special bases? Speaking of AWACS, a lot of people - dustoff, bent :) - have been vocal about the OPness of datalink even if I moved them a bit further. However, removing datalink means removing AWACS. What do you guys think about trying sessions without AWACS? If so, do you think I should give the "fighter in vicinity" warning to non fighter planes? (If the option is on) Edited September 25, 2016 by Mirknir Mirknir My old server: The Thread
Skjold Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I would say a resounding no, datalink is really damn good but so is the SA that comes with an western RWR plus AIM-120's. A lot of older airframes with weak radars that IRL would be guided via GCI towards their target need AWACS to be at all competitive in the enviroment. Removing AWACS will make the MiG-21 and F-5E nearly useless and also for planes like F-5E that has no built in IFF that relies on AWACS to declare locked targets. This is a simulator the datalink is good and should be good, just like the AIM-120 are good.
apocom Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 How is Datalink OP? I don't see a huge amount of SU27s on the server, so I don't think it's OP. Furthermore the SU27 has Datalink in reallife. Additionaly AWACS makes 3rd gen fighters more capable and increases the immersion. AWACS is also more realistic, simply because no relevant military power would deploy their fighters without AWACS.
