Hello folks. Just a quick question:

Is the P-51D Mustang flight model the same than the default TF-51D?

I'm hesitating to get either Mustang or Warthog. Which would you choose? Poll!

I did some flight hours with A-10C till I got bored but now I want more

However I'm in love with Mustang.

I would (and did) get both. I prefer fighters, so getting the Mustang was never something I had to think about, however DCS doesn't handled the WWII aircraft as well it does the modern ones. The simplified AI models weren't made with prop fighters in mind and they can pull crazy maneuvers. The same goes for the damage model, and enemies can soak up all of your 50 cal ammo before going down.

Things do get a little better in many on many combat though, as when the AI is chasing another AI it tends to pull less extreme maneuvers. It's also easier to find a target when there are many in the air. I don't regret getting the P-51, but it will benefit from DCS World 2 when that is launched.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

Flight model is the same, but a quarter of a ton empty weight difference between these two makes the handling a bit different as well.

You said you did some hours in the A-10C! Do you mean A-10A from Flaming Cliffs or the stand alone A-10C?

The key for the stand alone A-10C (IIRC) will work for DCS:World, so you may already own the warthog!!!

Sorry if I didn't understand correctly.

DCS 1.5 in a few days should come with new AI?

Anyway online combats worth the while. Not taking P-51 for 8 bucks in sale...

Nope, a friend let me play with the charlie for several times.

So, Flight model is the same? What a shame!

The TF-51 and P-51 have no differences other than weight and a small shift in CG. It wouldn't be noticeable in the real aircraft.

Having guns makes a pretty big difference to how much I enjoy the P-51 though.

Compare it with the IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. DCS Mustang flies more like Flight Simulator.

:megalol: That's a good one!

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

In my opinion Mustang flight model is in beta.

I guess no one understood the OP, and he's 100% right.

When on a real aircraft you pull the stick / yoke, your neck is, due to the resulting acceleration, subject to a torque, and Gs, and your head tends to bend forward.

DCS doesn't model this, and we remain seated in our simmer armchairs without any torque experienced. It's a major flaw on most flightsims, and even worse, no graphics card or processor can address it properly, unless we start using 6DOF platforms.

Erm no. Not even professional military sims with full 6dof cockpits can't simulate the full effects of G-forces (or acceleration) on the human body. The max they can do is +1 or -1 g. Since that is the gravity our little planet.

Not to quote the smell. No smell from the oil and or fuel in our cockpits either - absolutely disgusting!

And the temperature and humidity ? Where are they ? DO you feel it ? No! Another major flaw...

See ? The OP has a point. This sim is very limited, very....
