Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 This means that ED will release it in November or December as it will take at least 2 months to test an installer then properly set up a download/payment service , a process outside their control. I watched that MAKS video and I was not very much impressed by the environment , what looks gorgeous at 1000 ft and 250 kts may look dated at 100 ft and 120 kts. I would not be surprised if LOBS were to be delayed until early next year in order to implement maybe speedtree or something similar.
VMFA-Blaze Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 As far as the A-10C trainer goes...I'll have to see it to believe it. Trainer well I don't know about that... But I do know that there is a paralle air craft being added, so this might just take a little longer (LOL), but it will be certainly worth the wait... ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
Shepski Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 The environment has changed a lot already with new land textures, new trees and, more dense forests.

Like I said...I'll believe that when I see it. ;)

So it looks like they're going to use all of this new aircraft data to update the present A-10.... ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR

Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 The environment has changed a lot already with new land textures, new trees and, more dense forests. Good.

That's why I said that I'll believe it when I see it. ;)

I know even now with my rig, which is no slacker, I have trouble flying NOE in fast movers over the city of Krasnodar with visibility settings on high-scenes on high. Even water on low. GGTharos Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 ED doesn't model any classified stuff - battlesim specifically has scriptable/moddable systems so that the military can enter its own classified values and methods without having to tell ED. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

I would think so. I`ve seen ads from other (US) companies making sim "templates" with cockpit instrumentation and weapon systems (well, some of this stuff was only available to mil.) with flexibility to fill in all the "blanks". Project Magenta comes to mind (few years back).

zenTera Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Great news for me, this delay. I'm not expecting to find any free time before christmas, so BS will come right in time for me ;) And let's hope ED will implement some "minor" features like speedtree during the next half year, so we will get that "perfect" release from the beginning that we all are hoping for.
rockwelder Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Guys...the time is worth it. I have flown every worthy helicopter sim on the market and have experienced sensations and experiences in Black Shark that I have never experienced before - time will make this fine representation of the KA-50 a true benchmark in simulation.

Brit_Radar_Dude Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 1) release date slipped to Autumn 06. I've worked on enough software projects to know how tough it is to meet release deadlines. My gut feeling a while ago was a mid/late 06 release. 2) slipped because everyone working on the A-10C trainer? Not necessarily. Manpower profiles on Software projects are generally curved. The profile ramps up after the requirement analysis and top level design phases as more staff are brought on-board to do the low level design, code and test. Profile tails off again during the test and integration phases. 3) issues of security concerning A-10C project? Not if the project is designed correctly. I worked on a project for a neutral country during the Cold War and they did not want a UK company to have their aircraft / radar / missile performance data. As stated earlier, you have data files to hold that type of data and the customer fills that in with the real data after delivery once the product has been successfully tested and accepted with dummy test data. Kindred Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 It is :D It's definitely a very different experience. And I think, when I have an F-15 guy wanting to fly the 50 more than the 15 ... well :D ;)
Guest IguanaKing Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Understood, BRD, but we live in a world now where ITAR rules have made it necessary for Brits to come to the US, just to calibrate quartz rate sensors, in boxes that were STCd to be installed in US aircraft. Its STILL a sticking point and that...coupled with the reliability issues of that box...are the main reasons for a MAJOR US aircraft manufacturer terminating the contract. That manufacturer isn't even military, and support/reliability issues have killed the contract...the underlying factor in the support issue was security. We're talking about US and British intercooperation here...so US and Russian intercooperation is going to be even more sticky.
