You can destroy everything you want in the air but if you are not able to capture on the ground AB, cities and FARPS you are only increasing statistics.

Obviously, air domination is a huge advantage for any ground operation, but not the one and only factor.

Blue side with 60 F-15 would never be able to win and capture anything if no choppers and mud movers were involved in the ground assault. No matter they air-air ratio. The same for red side flying only Su-27.

A little respect for chopper drivers and attackers.

Also, without CAP cover is impossible to attack and capture anything.

I think you understand me.

Nothing happens on the ground without local air superiority. And nothing assures that better than hot shot fighter pilots with good K/D ratio. K/D ratio isn't all you need but if your K/D ratio sucks you aren't providing air cover but instead targets to the enemy. Besides K/D ratio is actually a real world metric for operational performance (like during Vietnam war). The thing with limited respawn is that losses and therefore K/D actually has operational significance.

Pretty sure WW2 proved this point wrong.

Not really.

B-29s did deal the final blow to Japan, but not before islands close enough from it were captured (by grunts, on the ground) and used as launch bases.

And in Europe, well the massive air raids didn't put an end to the war either.

Close cooperation between air and ground, does win wars though.

It´s a cooperative effort.

One without the other is useless.

Fighters make movies, bombers make history..... XDDD

The B-29s and the two nukes dropped did not deal the final blow to Japan. It would have taken alot more nukes for effect. Soviet Union declaring war on Japan and executing a full blown assault in Manchuria was the final push that marginalized the hawks in the Japanese war cabinet and allowed the emperor to order the ministers to accept surrender with less risk of coupe by the military reps. of the cabinet.

Another good example of a war won without air superiority is Vietnam.

Basicly very much dependent on how you define "win", but the war is always won / concluded on the ground despite the best efforts in the air.

Greg / Xcom / Crash, from the 1.5 change log:

*Added options to show message events: Kill, Takeoff/Landing, Crash and Ejecting

If you can remove these messages for the clients this would be very immersive!

Units killed can be confirmed only by somebody seeing them actually destroyed.

Will also declutter the chat box, and finally be more usefull for "chat".

Basically very much dependent on how you define "win", but the war is always won / concluded on the ground despite the best efforts in the air.

Operation Allied Force absolutly "Won" a war without ground combatants.

"During the 78-day campaign, sorties peaked in late May and early June. For example, on May 26, NATO aircraft flew nearly 900 sorties, and by June 2, 1999, Milosevic agreed to end the conflict. The terms of the agreement stipulated that Milosevic would withdraw his forces from Kosovo, a NATO-led force would provide security for the province; refugees would be allowed to return to their homes, and Kosovo would be granted self-rule under Yugoslav sovereignty. On June 10, the Serbian government ratified the agreement and Serbian forces began their withdrawal from Kosovo as elements of the Kosovo Force (KFOR) began to arrive."

The use of air power force Milosevic to withdraw his troops...the objective of the operation. While ground troops went in later to prevent hostilities and see that the peace accords were being followed...Airpower did indeed win the war.

Yeah... CNN facts and version of history

The real story in short is as follows:

- NATO wanted to give up in the next two or three days because aviation strikes were not successful + surprisingly pretty big losses.

- At that time while NATO is thinking about quitting, Milosevic is cheated from inside. Betrayal + false promises from the West = Milosevic believing tricksters - traitors and agreed to withdraw. Now we see that this is true.

Now, You can laugh >> you can believe in anything >> there is always another side >> the facts are quite different, so take care when you cite examples >> :censored:

It's a little slow, but I'll work on optimizing the DB and the queries, hopefully I'll find good ways to make it quicker.

Guys with special characters in the nickname might have issues with specific information about themselves until I fix encoding to the URL.

Xcom you magnificent god of SQL !!! this is truly amazing!

Some suggestions:

1. Add a column for real world date and time stamp (GMT) so we will be able to correlate when we look back some days or even weeks later at the sorties we did in each campaign.

2. Adjust the time stamp for take off time and landing time with the in-game time i.e. Viking_Tsunami / Sortie# 17 / Day 3 / Take Of Time would be 08:37:22 instead of 62:37:22...
