Do both... Frogfoot now, Mirage once it's released. :D

Doing these guides takes weeks if I want to do them correctly. I need to find good reference material, read it and understand it to a point where I can explain it in very simple terms by memory. Starting now means that I might have something to show in 2-3 months time if all goes well. I used to have more free time before, but now not so much. So either people get a guide of the M-2000 very close to release date (assuming there are no delays), or we get the Su-25 in roughly the same timeframe. For me, it makes little to no difference; taking screenshots doesn't take time. It's figuring out what goes on these slides that does.

Mirage, it will be a very popular module IMO.

...I'm curious to see what you guys think on that matter.

Personally, because of all the other reasons mentioned by others, I would prefer that you not do the Su-25 but focus on the Mirage 2000. As you said, there's already plenty of info out there (true, not as nice as your guides), it's a simplified flight model, and the Mirage 2000 is just a much cooler plane to fly! ;) I mean, come on, Delta wing? How many of those do we have? But, seeing you're the one doing all the work and you share it for free, do what you would most enjoy! It's okay, really.

I agree the Frogfoot is a great gateway drug but I would speculate more people that are already a part of the DCS community are aware of your work than people who are just starting out.

To me, the greater benefit to the community would be to work on the Mirage.

Then I would change my vote from SU-25 to Mirage. I don't think people realized how long it might take. Plus, I don't see this vote as a binding agreement. Mirage is a fine choice.

Things which do you no good in aviation:

1) Altitude above you;

2) Runway behind you;

3) Fuel in the truck;

4) The airspeed you don't have.

The Su-25/Su-25T has my vote but as creating your guide should be an act of passion - I feel you should probably go with your own choice/preference.

I think creating an appropriate guide for the Su-25T is actually quite difficult as there are two distinct groups of players -

1) newbies who have never played a flight sim ever

2) experienced pilots who want to fly realistically/efficiently.

It's hard to imagine a concise guide that could cover both without being overly complicated.

Having thought about the problem - I think 2 guides would be better.

1) For Newbies - a DCS equivalent of the FAA Pilot Handbooks using Su-25T instruments, etc. for the most part but using other aircraft where the functionality is missing/broken.

It would answer questions like how do I find the runway, what is 'pattern altitude', what height should I be to be on the glide slope x km or nm from the runway (AFAIK 50m per km), when should I level out when turning/climbing, how do I control my speed/altitude, what do the DCS navigation charts mean/how do I fly them, etc.

Note: The above diagrams are WIP and for illustration only.

2) For Experienced Pilots - A Su-25/Su-25T equivalent of the F-16 Dash 1 and Dash 34 manuals.

It would pull together the DCS Su-25/Su-25T manuals, stimpy's Weapons List, Apache600's Su-25T CheckL ist, A revised version of John "ZoomBoy27" Thomas's Lock-on Guide for the Su-25T, English version's of the Landing/Takeoff diagrams from the Russian forum, info from English/Russian articles/books/web sites (still can't find the RL Su-25K Pilot Manual), etc.

It's a huge amount of info for a newbie to filter and you have 'knack' of distilling the important stuff but it's also a lot of work, so you should go with what drives your passion to create your guides. Just because you *can* do something, doesn't mean you should/have to. Just IMHO.

I gotta say, guys... you have me really conflicted here.

I see plenty of great material available already to learn the Su-25T in a reasonable amount of time. I don't really see what I could "add" to this zerg swarm of short tutorials. On one hand, I understand that the Frogfoot being free might mean that more people are going to fly it, but I'm not that sure about that myself.

On the other hand, I think the Mirage is a much more difficult (yet rewarding) challenge for me, especially since the reference material is mostly in french and not readily available to the public. Yet... I can be quite resourceful at times. (remember the early MiG-15 days, anyone?) ;)

I'm curious to see what you guys think on that matter.

New players have awesome Su 25 training missions and a manual to write everything down as we all did. It's a simple plane come on we need a good Chuck's Mirage manual xD

No need for the SU 25T. Robert Sogomonian did a great one for new pilots.

I would like to see Mirage 2000C, but this one is month away, ao my vote would be, the new upcoming L-39C Albatros.

Well, the community has spoken. Mirage it is!

I have gathered a good amount of info on the Mirage 2000C already, but I'm always looking for more. If any of you guys has anything (additional info, documentation, etc.) that might be useful, feel free to send them to me via PM. If it's the Armee de l'Air Pilot Manual (131 pages) as shown here http://www.avialogs.com/en/aircraft/france/dassault/mirage2000/manuel-pilote-mirage-2000-c.html then don't bother, I already have it.

Looking forward to it, even though I voted for Frogfoot :D
