Depth of Field kills FPS

Maybe no priority issue but very noticeable, occurs only in outside AC views.

My rig is in my signature. I'm hoping it gets tested/edited so it gets less performance heavy. It's still VERY early days to judge anything at the moment. Although it does look fantastic, I've turned it off for the moment.

I see 15 FPS with my system (my sign), but I think this is a nature of Depth of Field feature.

I don't think its that big of a problem. I could imagine people would use this setting on replays to take screenshots (cinematic effect). I couldn't imagine why you would want to play like this anyways.

3770k and gtx980 here experiencing the same thing. Thought it was odd that I get extremely high fps max settings within the cockpit view and odd stutters I'm outside view. Now I know the cause, thanks.

I have a GTX770 with 4GB of RAM. Same thing, I just turned DoF off, it kills the FPS when you look at any outside view.

When I fly to the valley between mountain covered with tree. FPS decreased in half, too (130 to 60). I dont have DOF enable.

Afaik a moderator mentioned DOF is NOT for actual gameplay but picture sessions and videos mainly, dont look at it as a gaming/video option, its more a temporariy show-off function that you enable for pics and vids and disable thereafter.

 

I got ashaming 30 fps F2 view when I tested it, looks cool but cant use it.

 

..that's what I read about DOF on here elsewhere in 1.5 section ( think Sobek said it but not sure )

Makes sense as I don't really see any effect whilst in cockpit mode. You definitely wouldn't want that bokeh stuff happening when trying to spot ground targets.

So that pretty much confirms it more than likely. He's running 2x GTX 980's SLI and has good performance. We can probably chock this one up to intense graphic setting.

I reported it not because my game stutters, it's running fine with 70fps with DoF enabled but the performance breakdown is quite a number and should in this case be pointed out as bonus option for our cinema enthusiasts and a red warning with capital letters for the common player :music_whistling:

I run a single GTX 970 and I get a big framerate hit if I put BOKEH or SIMPLE on. It goes back to low 20s-30s.

Same here, in F2 view everything of DOFed and i get -20 FPS, down from 40-60. In F1 view i can clearly see outside it is not all DOFed.
