sFalcon Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 I only have 8GB of RAM and last night while hosting a simple server it was eating 7GB of RAM, upon saving and editing missions it would take literally 5 minutes to save any changes, because I was out of RAM, and therefore I'm out of fast processing ability :( so doing anything like saving missions etc always takes ages. Temporary increase your pagefile to 20gb or so.. then you can play for some hours http://www.thewindowsclub.com/increase-page-file-size-virtual-memory-windows [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] _______ sFalcon.
Stanomatic Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 I was in the Options | Controls key setup for about two hours and DCS became real sluggish. I thought it froze, just took a long time for my mouse clicks to respond. I didn't look at the memory at the time. I fired DCS up again and when into Controls and watched the memory climb slowly. Version 1.5.1.4702 Looks like the problem is found while flying, encyclopedia, and Options | Controls page from what I have gathered reading through this thread.
Falcon_S Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Hi guys! In computer science, a memory leak is a type of resource leak that occurs when a computer program incorrectly manages memory allocations in such a way that memory which is no longer needed is not released. So, in DCS... I think problem is that all models loaded stay stuck in the memory and every new one increases memory usage. Check your normal memory usage in windows without DCS in performance monitor. I have G15 keyboard and display on it and Logitech Performance Monitor on that display. I've seen similar behaviour, When I was finished with a mission and thrown back to the menu screen, RAM would be up a little. After doing like 5 missions my RAM usage for just sitting at the main menu doubled. And it kept doing that. Same goes if you leave a server and join another. During gameplay it takes a long time for me for it to actually crash because of it, but after a hour or so I will get stutters and lag.

droopy114 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Last update, better RAM usage, only the time to made some simple test. TF51D cold start up for ex., before update switching f11 view to see all airports increased VRAM to about 7000Mb, now only 3800Mb. Good job, i still don't test campaing or multiplayer.

secret1962 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) Memory leak is definitely still here. And the GPU performance is worse or something. Anything you do corresponds to a freeze. Look behind.. freeze. Open chat... freeze. Every 1-2 seconds you can see a small stutter/freeze. If you alt-tab everything starts freezing up. If you look at another player the fps drops by half or something AND FREEZES. It was definitely not this bad in 1.5.1.1 Ram usage keeps growing but slower than before. Every 1 second you get a stutter. You can notice it when making a turn and I suggest you to try it. Sometimes the game will just go halt and you'll crash.. this was already present but is much worse since 1.5, and REALLY worse now in 1.5.2 Went back to menu... still 6 gb. So yeah it hasn't been fixed definitely. Edited December 12, 2015 by secret1962

Did you notice the stutters, freezes and fps drops worsening compared to 1.5.1.1 too ? yeah, actually in terms of smoothness and FPS every patch since the first release has been worse. The initial 1.5 was very smooth, I had about 60 fps constantly and was very pleasantly surprised. Now I barely get 35 fps in cockpit, and every time I turn the head I get freezes. Big freeze every time I get to F2 view, and even bigger freeze in F3 when the plane is passing in front of the camera, I get about a 2-3 seconds freeze. terence44 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Hi, I have just made 30 hatreds of minute of flight in multiplayer and in L-39 (in 1.5.2.48726.137) and I am impressed, me had no annoying freeze, my RAM did not exceed 2,5 GB, while on the same server with less world I was in the later versions in easy 6 used GB of RAM, from time to time I had a microphone-freeze and my RAM was reset in 400 Mb! I know that a correction of the leaks of memory does not appear in the exchange log of the version 1.5.2.48726.137, but in any case during this flight it was the first time since I have 1.5 that I had no leak of memory . :) I had also deactivate my antivirus (Avast free license) before launching my game, I do not know if that helped or not .... In any case if it is good Eagle dynamic who corrected the problem, one thank you ! That finally restored me the envy to use DCS World ! Sorry for my bad English, and Merry Christmas everybody ! hansangb Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 (edited) Yes you can! Hell, I'm trying to track down a weird DX11 problem when 1.2 went to 1.5GA! EDIT: It wasn't the upgrade the 1.5 that created my problem. Tracking it down to an added USB card or Prepar3D.
