greco.bernardi Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 First....DCS 1.5 is really beautifull. Congratulations ED! Rain effect at 1.5 is great. I dont know what is planned for wheather at future updates, but will be great wet runway with visual effects. reflective surface with some concentration of water, spray at tires and water drops at windshield on low velocity or park airplane. Another time....Thanks ED for 1.5 open beta!
Coder Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 (edited) Look at this video: [ame] [/ame] Look how the water drops on the windshield are slowly moving away as the plane accelerates for takeoff. That would be very nice. Edited August 16, 2016 by Coder 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Find me on stackexchange or GitHub

Another time....Thanks ED for 1.5 open beta! Yes I agree some reflection on the runway in wet conditions would be a really nice effect and greatly add to immersion. Spray off the runway and Water droplets on the canopy are both things that I'm sure ED are capable of doing beautifully. With all That said the tiny water particles that look like a fine fog when you add rain into a mission now in 1.5 is really impressive it really gives a sense of movement you really feel like your traveling at speed, it's a really nice touch. Vivoune Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 (edited) First....DCS 1.5 is really beautifull. Congratulations ED! Rain effect at 1.5 is great. That's nice of you to support 1.5, but the rain effect in 1.5 is the same rain effect as 1.2. Nothing's changed. They'll get to update these weather effects in due time like they said they would. I'm sure they'll do a great job at it if the new smoke effect is anything to go by. ;) Edited October 6, 2015 by Vivoune [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

ggerman Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I love this. Hopefully it will be implemented in DCS. https://youtu.be/yBPDXv56bK4 That's all post-process effects done in the video editing software. None of that rain effect is a part of FSX.
could122 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 That's all post-process effects done in the video editing software. None of that rain effect is a part of FSX. OK mate. I meant something like this, Project Cars "In Game" not post-process effects done in the video editing software. check this video: CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k 4.4GHz | MOBO: Asus Maximus VII Hero |HD: Samsung 840 Evo SSD 500 GB| GPU: GTX 760 2GB | RAM: G skill Ripjaws DDR3 2133 16GB| OS: Windows 10 PRO
f4l0 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 OK mate. Corvus Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I hope we will see something like that in DCS. Would make flying Ka-50, Mi-8 and UH-1 in rain so much better. Not to forget about aircraft. One day maybe... One day. My YT channel https://www.youtube.com/user/corvuscorp81
f4l0 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Some X-Plane planes have a simple almost static canopy rain/freezing effect which simple disappears at a certain speed. I guess it is a quite simple post-processing effect. Maybe we will see this in future f4l0 Developer of Simshaker for Aviators Feel the brrrrttt: [Official] SimShaker for Aviators Forums thread at ED forums SimShaker for Aviators (simshaker-for-aviators.github.io)
OnlyforDCS Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Don't want to open a new thread, but I just wanted to add my voice of support for the idea of more rain effects. Especially the effect of rain droplets hitting and sliding away on the canopy at low/lower speeds. Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.
scotchegg Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 +1 - rain effects really deepen the immersion.
Wynthorpe Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Something like the one attached would be great!
112th_Rossi Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 It would also be ace if we got rain drops on the canopy while flying through clouds.
Vectury Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 More rain effects would be nice. And using dx11 is proving great for fps so the game can definitely handle more. I just hope they won't make the runway too slippery for the sake of landing and *blowing tyres* in a SU-27  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] -- i7 4790K -- Club 3D R9 290X Royal Ace SOC -- Asus Maximus VII Ranger -- G.Skill Trident X 16GB DDR3-2400 CL10 -- Gelid Tranquillo rev.2 -- Corsair RM850 -- Corsair 760T White -- Windows 10

Beagle One Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 what happened to this? isnt it in 1.5?No, but that's a typical wet ground scene from FSX. Weather and weather related effects to aircraft was one of the few things that FSX out of the box did very well.
Wynthorpe Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 No, but that's a typical wet ground scene from FSX. Weather and weather related effects to aircraft was one of the few things that FSX out of the box did very well. No its not, and no it doesn't! I have 6000 hours plus in FSX and its the one thing everyone moaned about, thats why everyone used REX or something similar for weather effects. This image was from smartgraf which is a partner of ED and its using EDGE, so we know DCS is capable of these effects.
Conroy Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 +1, good idea here guys. Immersion would be really improved.
sniperwolfpk5 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Yes please add rain effects. It will look really cool with 1.5 Win10, Intel 3rd Gen. ggerman Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) I have a feeling that effects like this are tied to the material properties of the objects in the map. Since the Caucasus map is just a port-over from the previous version of DCS (1.2.x) the ramps, runways, taxiways and roads don't have the necessary material properties applied to them to display wet surfaces like that. Now, when the NTTR and SoH maps become available, I anticipate that they WILL have those types of rain effects because those maps (and the objects contained within them) were/are being developed specifically for the EDGE environment - where as the original Caucasus map is not. In essence, what I'm saying is that they probably don't think it's worth the time, effort, and expense to go back and rebuild the Caucasus map objects with newer material properties that can display effects like that. Too many other priorities to waste time on the older map. I say wait and see what the NTTR brings before requesting things that may already be included. Edited October 16, 2015 by ggerman

Yeah ive noticed there are other shaders at work on tarmac etc on NTTR in the videos, perhaps we will see the rain effect.
RabidRider Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 +1 for rain effects, and wet run/taxiways. Like this (project cars) see 06:28 [ame= ] [/ame] And rotor effect on water. Looks kind of simple here, hopefully ED will provide us with a better effect. But at least something would be nice! min. 1:27: [ame= ] [/ame]
