I have the same issue and already have had ED support look into my PC using Teamviewer. They now need a programmer to look into the issue as I have all the perquisites for the BS to work in Openbeta but somehow the software continues to ask for an activated BS1 while it's been installed and activated, even by the ED support members temselves.

In DCS 1.2.xxx you should:

1) install bs1

2) activate it

3) upgrade to bs2

4) activate bs2 upgrade

Install DCS 1.5 and copy bs2 aircraft mod directory from DCS 1.2.xxx to DCS 1.5

Now you should have my situation: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2517860&postcount=9

So, KA50 will works in DCS 1.5 but the icon label in menu screen doesn't show 1.5

It's correct?

It's wrong?

No one reply to us! :(

It is a bit of a chew getting the BS2 upgrade to work, but it does in 1.2 and 1.5. Just got back into DCS after a break playing other stuff, and I originally somehow installed the BS2 (non-upgrade), which messed things up, but I didn't know about the module manager, which makes things loads easier.

The key thing, is to install BS1 standalone and register it.

Touchdown!

After all steps I posted before I installed AGAIN BS1 (in the same folder X:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50).

I started OB 1.5 and the UPDATER found a 1.5 KA50 update.

I'm happy :D

Well, my PC and ED support are breaking their heads on how to get it running. The support guys themselves did the exact same steps as mentioned above and still it throws the error of not having an activated bs1 available..

To be continued

Hi Looney,

I've used my steam BS1 (originally bought in 2011 cheap on sale to use with BS2 upgrade) to allow the upgrade in 1.5 which worked fine.

Your BS1 wasn't a Russian version (like several of us bought in 2008 ) of something else unusual ?

no, just a normal version..

I think ED should just grant every BS1 and BS2 Upgrade owner a BS2 Full License and be done with the support nightmare. That would also be a great move towards the community and a little bonus for long time customers.

Seeing as that probably won't happen, guys, do yourselves a favor and get BS2 Full during the next sale when it's reduced to virtually nothing. You'll then have a new license with 10 activations and no more of this activation hassle with BS1 vs. 1.5 and so on.

That said, I kind of had a hunch something like that was going to happen and I never regretted having bought BS2 Full right when it was released. :music_whistling: :smartass:

I currently am working fine with my BS1 and BS2 1.1.1.1 and all the patches since. Republic works fine for me in 1.5 .

BUT

When you purchased your BS2 full version newbie,

when you installed it, what did you do with the older installation? Does the newbie just overwrite the old installation?

OR

Did you uninstall the older BS1 installation? And what is the process? How did you do it?

I would be concerned left over files from BS1 might screw up the works of the new installation.

I'd be willing to pay to upgrade my BS1 upgrade license to BS2 proper...

...that is kindof a sad situation!

I would also pay for an upgrade license for my copies of BS-1 /BS-2, it would make re-installs a lot easier.

No worries, they install into entirely separate directories by default. At some point, I had two versions of BS1, one versions of BS2 standalone and one version of DCS World with BS2 installed and there were zero conflicts (well, not entirely true; BS2 standalone and BS2 for DCS World kind of seemed to share the logbook and the campaign progress, but AFAIR that was it).

Just accept the default installation path and you should be good.
