Higher resolution cockpit shadows

For me, the blockiness of the cockpit shadows is very distracting, and has been for many years.

It sucks that the fantastic cockpit detail is spoiled by super blocky and flickering shadows.

 

Is there a reason for them looking this bad? Does increasing their resolution mean all other shadows have to be high-res or something?

If not, I can't imagine doubling the resolution of the cockpit shadows having such a drastic performance hit.

 

What are the chances of this being addressed by a mod or a future patch? Is it possible from an engine standpoint? Do you guys want to see this improved? Discuss!

I have had to choose flat shadows only in my options to eliminate annoying tree shadows from flashing at low altitude. As result I have also lost cockpit shadows. I can live with that but would prefer it if cockpit shadows were available as a separate options setting with a high resolution that wouldn't have any affect on all of the other shadows in the sim.

It's highly likely that the cockpit rendering has a custom pipeline so I'd hope that this is feasible.

+1 to this post. Its a real immersion killer. I would love to see this added - we spend all our time looking at these beautiful cockpits and they really do get ruined with those low res shadows. Here's hoping!

Please add separate option for cockpit shadows. When I select flat shadows my cockpit shadows disappears. I can't live without cockpit shadows and I sacrifice some FPS for that. As you can see my sig. I have very low end laptop but the problem is that I can't breath without DCS.
