CrackerJack Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I have 1.2 and 1.5ob installed, I'd like to uninstall 1.2. I'm fine using 1,5ob until the release version is available. If I uninstall 1.2 will I lose an activation for the modules I have? According to the 1.5ob download instructions: This open beta install will be complete version that resides in parallel to your release DCS World install and have separate configuration files located in Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\. So will it be possible to install the 1.5 release from 1.5ob or must I have 1.2 on the system? Thanks in advance! razo+r Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 You shouldn't loose that but there's no real reason with uninstalling the normal DCS version
droopy114 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Don't uninstall 1.2! Is there a particular reason? i play only 1.5 now, it's so better, but i have still 1.2. Was ready to uninstall it but i have a doubt...
Cibit Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I deleted my 1.2 yesterday and will go with OB till a 1.5 release. there is no problems with deactivation. HiJack Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Then you must be prepared to download 1.5 release from ED download store. If you have 1.5 and 1.2 installed the normal would be to update the released 1.5 over the 1.2 installation (at least this is the way it is designed). But then again who knows. We may all have to delete 1.2 before installing 1.5 when it releases.
piXel496 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I uninstalled 1.2 because I only use 1.5beta and did not encounter any unexpected problems. If a next final version is released I 'll just download it fresh. The only reason to keep 1.2 is that the next 1.5 or 2.0 installer could use some files on your HD so it does not need to download it again. Since 1.5 or 2.0 is somekind of a "milestone" release I prefer to redownload the new version as a whole. And activation is linked to your DCS customer username and some hardware identifiers of your PC. So in principle when reinstalling the DCS program, your modules activation should not change. . old stuff I made
dburne Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Yes that is why I have left 1.2 release version installed, I do not play it any longer since 1.5 Open Beta, but figured I will have it if the release of 1.5 or 2.0 needs it. Otherwise I would just uninstall it, but I am not hurting on space so no harm in leaving it. Cibit Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 It was space that was the decider for me. I will get the release of 1.5 fine but keep the open beta for 2.0 if required;) Dont forget the 24ish GB for Nevada:music_whistling: i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
javelina1 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Dont forget the 24ish GB for Nevada:music_whistling: Yikes!!! :noexpression: When I install that, I'll probably remove my 1.2 install. Have been only flying 1.5OB as of now. Will need another SSD at some point soon.
