Pff, we had to learn english, it's about time everyone else learns the superior language of Sweden! :book:

Will there be an English cockpit, or will I have to (in addition to Russian and French) learn some Swedish too? :D

It is easy.. See?

Trying to figure out what you just said...:music_whistling:

Mission: "To intercept and destroy aircraft and airborne missiles in all weather conditions in order to establish and maintain air superiority in a designated area. To deliver air-to-ground ordnance on time in any weather condition. And to provide tactical reconaissance imagery" - F-14 Tomcat Roll Call

Its not really a matter of knowing the language if you dont type using any recognizable form of grammer and dont seperate the words as you type them ^^.

Im would be more then happy to set up a Swedish for beginners course for the pilot candidates ^^.

Edit: I didn't write that, google is responsible for the grammar.

It basicly is jibberish, for you non-swedes.

I think I could understand few words such as artillery, systems, discussions and construction/material something like that, am I right?:D

LOL

Too bad my country haven't produced any notable aircraft, I'd like to see you sweat with the language. :P

Finnish is almost as bad: lentokonesuihkuturbiinimoottorimekaanikkoaliupseerioppilas

Basically means: an airplane jet engine mechanic NCO trainee

PS. apparently such long words break the forum. There shouldn't be any whitespace in there :)

The Viggen will have an English cockpit option, manual and training missions. No need for self flagellation in learning the language. smile.gif

Great! Gonna try the Swedish first, just for the sake of authenticity, knowing that I can always revert to English when I fail. :D

Uh... so many letters... :P

You could have posted this sooner; I've been binge watching the Muppet Show in preparation!

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

Glad to have german as my mother tongue, most of the swedish stuff makes sense to me after I thought about it once or twice. And the rest is memorizable. Russian is a different deal. Not knowing the pronounciation of even single symbols is kind of counter productive.

But the option is surely good for my non germanic friends. ;D

Will it have the ft to M conversion chart under the HUD ? That was literally the best in cockpit info I have ever seen written in an aircraft. xD

*unexpected flight behaviour* Oh shiii*** ! What ? Why ? What is happening ?

No need for that, it's all in meters anyway. None of that imperial crap in the Viggen. ;-)

Even the air speed? I mean, knots or km p/hour?

Yes, all Swedish aircraft up until and including the Viggen is in all metric as far as I'm aware. The JA37 that was modified for NATO cooperation were converted to ft and knots.

And I honestly dont get why they still use freaking random length units. Where 1000ft isnt 1nm, which is as inconvinient as it gets.

M is defined by C, so no random length there either.

But ye, happy that russians and swedes do use metric.

We use imperial nowadays on our current Gripen fleet. As RaXha said the JA 37DI's (small batch of the JA 37 that were modernised and adopted for international service) also use imperial.

Sadly, the international standard is feet and nautical miles.

I flew the AJS37 sim at the museum at the old F15 base, last summer. I tried a GCI approach and the fact that the altimeter was i meters, and "0" was at the 6-o'clock position was really confusing! :-)

That's good.. i've never liked all those feet, knots and whatnot. :D

it's quite the opposite for me. As Croatian, I can understand a lot of Russian, especially written. Fortunately I had to learn Cyrillic in school so that's not a problem (I wasn't that happy about it back then, I guess :D). But Swedish makes no sense to me.

I'll stop derailing this thread now... :)

TBH if anyone complains about derailing, we simply ask for our own subforum. :D Simple as that. I mean I did read through till page 95. There is so much great info in there its a real shame that most people dont have the time or dont want to spend it searching for that in this ginormous thread. :D
