El Hadji Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Problem was that we had to use a collector for the spent cases during training. The rate of fire of the m/45 is pretty high as it is and sometimes the cases bounced back and got stuck. With more spring tension and even higher r.o.f that likelyhood increased. But I have seen it done though and it almost sprays as a MAC-10. On one occasion the barrel exploded... BravoYankee4 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 The first time I was shooting with that gun I believed I was shooting two rounds, even though I really tried to shoot single rounds. Eventually I understood that it was the moving mechanism that felt as the second round :music_whistling:

WinterH Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Alright, can't hold it any longer :P. I'm sure it must be something as all you folks have some good memories of it apparently. Yet, I'm sorry but, it must be the ugliest SMG ever :P. Even Sten looks better :D. And that stock looks as uncomfortable as it can get. What made it so cool for you folks, honest curiosity :). (Lack of Viggen news, turned us into discussing SMGs in this thread, hope someone takes note :P). It was and is a very reliable weapon its easy to control and accurate (at SMG ranges) It was simple to use and a very good weapon allround and also simple/cheap to produce. And they were used and exported outside of sweden aswell. (and also license produced in multiple nations like Egypt and Indonesia) They are especially well known for their use by navy seals and other US Spec-ops units in vietnam and south east Asia. (It was often called the Swedish-K in US service) One of the reasons why it suited the navy seals so well is that it could be used pretty much the second you had the barrel / bolt etc above the water. You did not need to dry it or empty it of water as the open bolt design allowed to to drain the water almost instantly. The US navy liked it so much to the point where they made a copy after sweden pot a export embargo of weapons to the US during the Vietnam war. The US copy is not an exact copy and looks slightly different and its called the Smith&Wesson M76. And how dare you call her ugly >=( If i only had my M/45 id shoot you right here and now  And ugliest SMG ever?... really... Two Words... Grease Gun... And if you can say you think the M3 looks better then the M/45 then you probably need glasses or a mental checkup ^^. And the M/45 was often seen together with the viggen (pretty much throughout the career of the AJ/AJS 37) As it was the weapon that was carried by Swedish Ground Crew. So any time you see a picture of a Viggen being re-armed you are bound to see a Few M/45s. Edited April 4, 2016 by mattebubben
Schmidtfire Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Easy to control? It only has automatic fire... My uncle told me a fun story about his time in the swedish military service. At the time, Military Police and guards were using the M/45. There was a test were you screamed: Halt! Shot one warning shot in the air, followed by one shot in the leg on a target of a running man. An anxious recruit had a lot of problems controlling the fully automatic M/45. So the first shot would always be in the leg, and the rest up the back as the muzzle was raising out of control. Making the target look like swiss cheese. Anyways, he failed the test several times and the poor guy had to perform the rest of his military service armed with only a baton
El Hadji Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Best weapon I used in when I was in the military. It simply never failed regardless of weather conditions (During my service the temp interval was between -25C and +30C) and it required a minimum amount of maintenance and cleaning. Not that many weapons to this day that you can swim with in saltwater, crawl through sand and expect to work flawlessly afterwards... It was easy to handle as well with it's folding stock and the wooden grip was actually pretty comfortable. I actually earned my PEK patch with the M/45. El Hadji Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Easy to control? It only has automatic fire... Yes it is easy to control if you know what you are doing and firing single shots is no problem at all. And with a little bit of training it was not that hard to do single shots. And also the police had their own variant that was select fire (Semi or full auto) The MP might have used the normal variant though but for the police they had the variant with the semi auto capability. And if someone is unable to stick to singles or small bursts with the M/45 its just as likely they would just rapid fire a Semi auto weapon as well. Since at that point its not about the weapon or the training but the head of the person holding it. Edited April 4, 2016 by mattebubben
