Harlikwin Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Well, I'd say the F14A vs B from a coding standpoint seems much simpler than going from the AV8BNA to AV8B+, radar modes seem to be much harder to model right. I just want a virtual GIB for the F15E New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. Hummingbird Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Hopefully the flight model won't differ much from ED's, otherwise it would feel quite weird.
ebabil Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 After F-14 MP experience, i don't think i will buy any 2 seater plane or helicopter again. (execpt phantom, it's my dream) Lack of swap ability between seats is horrible. 33-DFTC Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 That's one way to look at it. If you're flying solo and don't have someone to fly with that's certainly an inconvenience, but for people always flying with a teammate it's pure joy. The fact is, the Strike Eagle won't offer any AI so you could not swap position even if you wanted it. There are only two types of aircraft, fighters and targets. - Major Doyle "Wahoo" Nicholson, USMC

You probably won't ever need a co-pilot in it

Fokjohn Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 wow how? Well, I think in the real F-15E the pilot does have access to just about everything the F-15E can do, certainly the radar and fire control system, possibly even navigation and whatnot. I think the co-pilot isn't even called a RIO because of this. The twin seat configuration is more of a general-load-sharing kind of deal, nobody is really dedicated to specific tasks other than the pilot flying the plane of course.

The mudhen is on of the modules I was looking forward to but interest waned with info that I would need a human back pilot to fly the module. Interesting to know I can fly a single pilot. Demongornot Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Not surprising with HOTAS and modern avionic. With older aircraft you needed so much additional controls but for modern aircraft the computer do already a lot for you, you don't need tons of buttons because of HOTAS and the way its buttons can be used for multiples modes, so there is way less workload to operate sensors. Fokjohn Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I'm fairly optimistic, here: https://www.military.com/equipment/f-15e-strike-eagle It states; "During the air-to-surface weapon delivery, the pilot is capable of detecting, targeting and engaging air-to-air targets while the WSO designates the ground target." Sounds like shared workload not exclusive workload to me. At the very least this alone confirms Air-to-Air freedom for the pilot
Kev2go Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 so yeah seems F15E is basically like the F/A18D or F/A18F in that regard. the Front seater ( pilot) can basically do everything, should hypothetically the WSO not be present at all, operate the aircraft as if it were single seater. So Its just a matter of sharing/dividing tasks among 2 people to reduce workload. Beamscanner Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) The following video is footage from the F-16's and F-15E's AN/AAQ-28(V) LITENING targeting pod. At 2:07 you can also see side by side recordings of the APG-70 Air-to-Air radar mode and air-to-air TGP mode, the latter of which isn't available in the unclassified -34. ;) Tried cleaning it up alittle. Not much to make out in the air to ground mode. But it looks like he's in a DBS mode with the screen set to "Frozen". It also looks like he has Data-link tracks in air to ground mode. Compared to another video showing what looks like a SAR mode: (from at ~32 minutes) EDIT: Also cleaned up the air to air mode Edited September 6, 2019 by Beamscanner 2
