baltic_dragon Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Yeah, I know exactly which mission you mention and - unfortunately - this is the final one for this campaign. I am glad you enjoyed it and that the missions you've flown have forced you to learn new things. What I love about A-10 (and hopefully that will be also true for other airframes, but A-10 because of its role is quite specific) is that at some point you find out that spending 15 minutes before the mission to write down all the information from weather and wind speed, through frequencies of allied flights, to coordinates of your targets and friendlies is actually very useful! If I may have a small request - actually two. Could you think if there are things which were unclear in the briefings etc. - generally what in your opinion could be improved? And secondly - start thinking about 5 missions you've flown which you would like to see converted to MP. I am going to start a poll about it here after New Year. Once again, thanks for flying the campaign and thanks for all your feedback at the forums! *edit* oh, and as for your question - perhaps you started extending it by mistake? That, or Betty just panicked and since she couldn't find the phrase "terrain ahead" in her dictionary, she tried to delay the impact... For more information, please visit my website. kerlix Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) Off the top of my head only one thing really stands out. I have no idea what mission it was, so I'm sorry about that. But during the briefing I was told I was going to be leading "Dodge", but once in-mission, I was actually "Enfield". Or possibly the reverse. That was the only thing I noticed that sticks out. The voiceovers were excellent. It brought in an immersion factor that I haven't seen before. I know in one mission once I received the MGRS and the subtitles went away, the coordinates appeared again on the right side and stuck around for a minute. It gave me a chance to write them down. It may have been the first mission where such coordinates were given and that's why. That was basically what prompted me to create my own custom mission cards to keep next to me, because if you miss the call out, you've missed it. Also, in the mission where you have to wait for the (German?) intelligence officer to reach "Sweet Spot", in the briefing it says to contact JTAC to get the coordinates of a roadblock at the beginning of a valley pass. For me at least, no matter how many times I contacted JTAC, I would get an "All clear, free to depart" and it left me to go searching. I didn't pick up on where it was at until I dipped a little lower and started watching tracers leave scorch marks on my nose. After that I was on a mission of vengeance and basically killed everything with a weapon in sight (within the stated ROE and concept). I was never a fan of night missions, especially with a cloud layer because the TGP couldn't see the Hindenburg burning once you're at altitude, in or above the clouds and out of MANPAD range. But looking back, they were fun. Frustrating, but fun. As for MP, I've only played SP. Even though I have thousands of hours and years of sim time, including a few hundred on VATSIM (FSX), the thought of screwing up procedures/military jargon/etc. in front of experienced players makes me hesitant. However, a mission where one player would basically call the shots and call in other CAS and bombers (think SU-25) would be a lot of fun. Have one or two (or more) other players anchor about 10-15 miles out, wait for the lead to spot targets, mark them, and then call the others in for a hell-on-earth bombing run followed by a 2nd flight to swoop in and add to the decimation would be a fun mission to fly. Throw in AAA, MANPADS, etc. and it could get interesting real quick. Anyways, I know that probably doesn't apply to anything in the campaign as of now (save one mission) but maybe something to think about for your future projects. I'm sure you could take that idea and improve on it. I don't doubt you skills. I'm just upset I'm gonna have to wait another 10-12 months for your next campaign haha. Unfortunately, we're in desperate need of more creators like yourself. baltic_dragon Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 Thanks a lot for that! I will go through the missions to check where there is discrepancy between the briefing and the mission (Dodge - Enfield, will be easy to fix). As for the JTAC, I will check that too, maybe you or your wingman already destroyed whatever needed to be destroyed? :) As for the MP, that is a longer story, I will get back to you on that one :) AS for the mission idea - I have almost finished exactly similar mision, for now a SP version, where player has Predator to call in targets and three other strike packages he can send against them. Plays out quite nicely and will be part of the Crimson Dawn campaign, a new project that should by out in the second half of 2016. Much more advanced than Enemy Within and of bigger scale, as this would be taking place at the actual battlefield against real enemy having all the toys of war. DarthXavius Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Steam Version Hey Baltic Dragon, Been waiting for your official DLC to release since you announced it, but I have the Steam version of DCS A-10C, any info on when that is coming to steam or how to get the DLC from the store page to work on steam? It gives the "Not for STEAM!" warning when I go to purchase it from the E-Shop. SGT USMC, KILL
baltic_dragon Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 Hey! AFAIK the Steam version is coming. Can't give you an exact date, but I'd say rather weeks than months. Theranthil Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Hello Baltic_Dragon, I just finished the campain so a lots of thanks for it. I had an amazing time flying it, up to the very last (challenging mission!). It's totally worth the few bucks it costs and I would recommend it without a doubt. I'll probably fly it again to try reaching better scores. The frustrating point is having to sometimes rely a lot your wingman to spot the targets. He can spot AAA 25 miles away the second they appear while I keep struggling with the view and the TGP. The strong point is how dynamics are the missions, having to react swiftly and improvise. I learnt a lot about CDU, space awareness and just improved using the airplane as a system. I came back from the last mission with one engine down, just enough adrenaline hoping not to crash in the mountains. I love the radio silence until you get far away enough and they can radio you the results. By the time I just hoped I wouldn't crash the airplane with the crosswind landing. One unclear point was during the mission with the 25s bombing the big outpost, you are supposed to destroy a big house but one the briefing I didn't know if it was the big one, the small in front, all of them... Continue to release campaigns this quality, i'll sure have at least one buyer :)
baltic_dragon Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 Hey Theranthil, thanks for feedback. I am really glad you liked the campaign and happy to hear that you have learned new things while flying it. Yeah, spotting is hard, especially with some problems under 1.5 - there are quite a few workarounds for that now, check the wishlist thread in A-10C Bugs & Problems, there is a long one on TGP. I will be releasing new stuff, but for A-10C that will probably be sometime by the end of the year as things stand currently, as I am working now on M2000 campaign for Razbam and another one for F-15C. sobe Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) Is there any way to replay a mission at a later time (not just at the end of a mission) without having to go back to the first mission again? This is the first campaign that I have played. Yurgon Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Is there any way to replay a mission at a later time (not just at the end of a mission) without having to go back to the first mission again? Should work if you open the desired mission from the MISSION main menu item. The campaign installs to C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamic\DCS World\Mods\Campaigns\ by default.
sobe Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 OK. I put them in the single player folder to practice with the missions. Razor18 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Reg. Hammerfall pt.2 I located the camp and blew upp a tent including some soldiers and a manpad with a Maverick. I then dropped an MK-82 on a truck. Then I called in the SU-25s and continued with the route. I made it back and taxied to the parking area. However, I only reached 50 and didn't succeed to the next mission. Was anything else supposed to happen or did I miss something? For whatever reason I just can't find the camp. Any hint?
baltic_dragon Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 For whatever reason I just can't find the camp. Any hint? See below :) If you tune to the frequency of the recon flight (Pontiac IIRC), he will at some point give you the MGRS coordinates of the first camp. Also, your wingman might spot it before you, so you can just ask him to attack targets of opportunity, but I would suggest a maverick as a first option there - otherwise he might get shot down by the MANPAD. Razor18 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Hogs and Falcons mission: couldn't find the tanks, asked JTAC, but after the coordinates he said troops in contact, requesting AGM. Now are these the tanks to mark with WP for the israelis, and is the JTAC stupid to have me kill them, or are those enemies (not practice targets) that really needed eliminated by AGM, but then what will I mark for the israeli F-16s?
baltic_dragon Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 The tanks are practice targets for the Israelis to kill. This part of the mission is supposed to let you practice target finding and recognition, and then let the Israelis practice their maverick skills :) For more information, please visit my website. baltic_dragon Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 OK, but why JTAC doesn't request marker then? Because in a way you are the JTAC, you are to mark the target (although you don't have to, it is only an option). Unless I misunderstood something from your previous post. Unless I misunderstood something from your previous post. I see. I tought it would be some surprise change of events, because besides requesting Maverick, JTAC also said "Troops in contact", which always needs immediate action, and I wouldn't expect it with a practice target. Thanks for the clarification tough.
baltic_dragon Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Nah, the "troops in contact" part is just due to proximity to the tanks :) can't really disable it! bzhnono Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 There are blue infantry next to the practice target red tanks. Just send a flare rocket to one of the thanks and call the F16's and voila, mission over :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Razor18 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I can't call the F-16s only after marking the tanks, right? Because I don't remember having seen that (Colt flight?) option in the Radio Menu...
