On initial beta release, what will work, what won't?

With some DCS module beta releases, we have seen non-functional or incomplete systems, it is not a big deal (they were beta releases) but it did make some types of missions difficult when drop tanks were not properly enabled or oxygen systems were out of whack.

With the beta release of the Mirage incoming, I was hoping the developers could let us know what we can expect, what systems are currently not functional that are planned for the final release?

I hope the flight model gets the special treatment instead of the standard affair. If I heard correctly in the demo/startup tutorial, he mentioned it was the standard model. This wasn't too long ago so fingers crossed.

The developers already stated that there is no standart flight model anymore. You will only see the external flight model by RAZBAM which seems to get along pretty good by what CptSmiley said about it so far.

Good question. I'd like to know as well.

A little confusing...it says that the EFM is used by partner developers yet the UH-1, developed by a partner, uses the PFM....?

Belsimtek has a bit of a special relation with ED from what I've heard.

They're kind of a part of them...But that's to put it simply.

And also note that PFM isn't necessarily better than EFM or vice versa.

Just put down enough job on the flight model and they can be just as good as one another.

Be warned, IIRC Zeus stated IFF is NOT functional yet. So call RAYGUN in multiplayer at least.

Well, if there is in fact no way to tell friend from enemy it won't really be possible to fly it in a public server. At least not for air to air. Just hope the IFF would be a relatively high priority so that it can be properly tested in MP.

So Im interested in the second part of the question, we know what will work, but what won't? Things you are still working on/planning to do?

So, we know what will be in the beta, but I'd be more interested in what's still missing. Off the top of my head, it seems refueling and INS will be missing.

This is fine, I'm very excited about what we do get! I'd just like to know what I'm unable to use yet.

Can we put together a list of things that have yet to be implemented after initial beta release?

@Zeus. In DCS 2 that Greece exist as selective country. Is Mirage 2000C to be in Greece Inventory in DCS2?

PS. We thank you for the uncompleted manual and for that they put the Hellenic Airforce colours in Mirage 2000C.

Just read in your manual the following: "A removable refueling probe can be attached in front of the cockpit, ...". :book:

May I ask, do we get the capability to add/remove the probe?

thats not my understanding.

and also if you read that post it does not say there is no iff.

it says that the manual iff interrogator is not yet functional.

So my guess is that atm it works the way like all other aircraft are modeld(other then mig-21) in that the iff is automatic (even when it should not be).

But that this will be fixed once the (realistic) interrogator function is complete.

since i think they would not release the airplane without the abillity to tell friend from foe.

this is just my understanding and guess but i think its the correct one.

But would love to get a confirmation from Zeus.

That would be a better interim solution, but I would have to wonder if the work to get that working would be almost as much as making the interrogator functional. So yes, I would love to see some confirmation if there will be an interim IFF solution, or there will simply be without it until the interrogator is implemented. (We could always work around it if that is the case, AWACS DECLARE and RAYGUN work for Falcon 4 which has no IFF, but it would be less than ideal.)

again i might be wrong but how i understand it is that by default iff is automatic in this game.

(since instead of actually interrogating an iff beacon it just displaying friend or foe icons depending on iff ur blue or red)

In wich case its easier to have automatic iff to start with untill the more complex manual interregation is ready.

again thats just my guess but i think its correct =P (makes the most sense)

Yeah, but that is more code to write/test, for little use if you plan to make a better system shortly after.

IFF is not always available IRL.

That would make good practice IMO. DCS pilots rely too much on an infallible IFF.

I won't mind if the 2K has no IFF at all for the first beta.

well it would make it neigh impossible to use in mp especially for bvr

(without having a high rate of teamkills).

Especially since most MP servers also have a mix of all airplanes on both sides so its VERY hard to do visual ID.

So I've got a question. Felt a bit much to make a thread just about this one so I'll ask it here.

Does the Mirage 2000c have some kind of missile launch warning system?

I'm guessing it doesn't but hey...you never know.

Also guys in regards to autopilot, the automatic approach mode is not in the beta, it is on the top of my to-do list of features to add in among other things. Normal, Altitude, and Altitude Select modes are available in the initial beta.

Additionally, for aerial refueling, we are getting help from ED on the finishing touches. The aircraft probe will maintain contact with the drogue but we are not receiving the final "Taking on fuel" message even once connected and stabilized, and therefore not actually receiving fuel. That is another top priority of mine once we figure out what the missing piece is or what we are doing incorrectly.

Apologies if this has been answered in another thread, does this mean that the existing AI tanker in game will get a drogue attatchment?
