Every day we are closer to Black Shark releasing day. I worry about coming new challenge, how long will I learn to fly this damn chopper. I'm trying to remember myself some interesting heli sims which took many hours from my life.

LHX - First what I remember about heli sim. Was to young to take better look.

Gunship 2000 - No need to say. Everyone must know it. Classic made by Microprose - legendary developer of many great sims.

Apache Longbow - I liked feeling of modern battlefield presented by developers with nicely recorded radio comms. Fine training in Fort Worth scenerio, great campaigns. This position is my favorite. I spend months playing.

Hind - game sister of Apache Longbow. I believe this is the first sim of soviet chopper (not sure for 100%).

What is your favorite simulation of military helicopter and why? Maybe there is smth you'd like to see in BS?

Razorworks Apache/Havoc & Comnche/Hokum. Dynamic campaign, nice graphics, bit simplified, still active modding community.

i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

Annoyed by my posts? Please consider donating. Once the target sum is reached, I'll be off to somewhere nice I promise not to post from. I'd buy that for a dollar!

Definitely the Razorworks Enemy Engaged series. It was a pretty complete sim when it realeased, and although a bit simplified, the mods keep making it more and more realistic.

Arneh, just figured out how to make a decent start up sequence instead of pushing one button and you're flying. He also added autorotation. I'm amazed how much has been done every time I play it.

Best Helo Sim

I have been simming since zx spectrum(!) days. But seriously, I have very fond memories of Hind / Apache series by Digital Integration (cant believe I remembered that company's name!).

I have tried the modded version of EECH, but I seem to always end up in a Hind with a non-functional MFD in a cockpit that looks like it was made out of leftovers. Still pretty good though, and I loved it when it first came out.

Looking forward to Black Shark of course, but the start up routine looks pretty high maintenance. I hope it will be playable as well as authentic. :pilotfly:
