Do you think the unit acting as JTAC should be a "armed" unit, meaning transport vehicles are not suitable as JTAC ?

Armored vehicles do work to lase targets

see attached picture, I managed to get contact with JTAC and seems that the JTAC was ready to lase, or actually lasing the target, but I'm not sure how to track the target with Mirage 2000 to see the diamond on target so my test stopped right there.

You will not see a diamond in Mirage. In fact, you need to know where the target approximately is, and then proceed as if you would do CCRP: so bug the target area with the pipper.

Maybe i'll help, during recent testing (to try the no-crash GBU dropping in 1.5.3), I have had trouble having JTACs lasing also (they give Type 3 control, No mark). I have finally managed to have it working by replacing the unarmed HMMWV by a TOW-armed HMMWV, and that guy (placed in the same position) did agree to lase.

So, this might be a thing to try ;)

Changing the unit worked, thanks!

yes you need to have an idea of where the target is and which direct ion the laser is coming from, but you don't actually need to "bug the target with the pipper", you can release the GBU from any height, early enough with enough inertia for it to travel to target or at a slight dive angel / bomb fall trajectory that it'll pick up the laser on it's flight to the target area

as in below I know the targets are on the Damn and that the AH-64 is lasing from somewhere north east of the inlet into the damn, so I try to line up my release in the general direction of the damn and along the path of the laser

The second release sort of proves the theory, that the bomb can't find the laser if it's released at too far an angle from the direction the laser is pointing

Nice, thanks for the info!

Checked Today and Yes it works but for 4 targets and 4 GBUs I hit only 1-2 times. Placing the piper of RDI for CCRP near the target is 100% of accuracy so its the best way for me I think.

btw. now the most difficult thing is to find a target, do You know when the INS will be finished it will be possible to put coordinate from JTAC report to automatically put the piper of radar on the target (this cross), something like in A-10C?

Btw. if someone wants here is my JTAC mission for training for NTTR map: https://www.sendspace.com/file/biijzf (target is 4x T-72 on WPY 2 on the intersection of roads).

Thanks for vid, i have observed with other pilot that if you just drop on heading of tgt level flight above 20,000ft from range of 6 to 8 miles from tgt we get 100% hit with Fellow A10c lazing in the ordinance.

Would like to get some more range out of this for a higher altitude standoff drop for say a Sa-15 strike. Its fun finding the limits.

Ps the range to tgt is actual ground distance not slant range. Next is to do Mach 1 drops but is that even possible in real world?

Hey guys how do you get the Mq predator or reaper drone to laser for you?? I ser there task to AFAC and under advanced WP I set it to FAC-engage group. When flying I call the JTAC but he can get the mark on part tht tells me he can lase.

When entering coordinates into INS is possible, it will be great indeed for this. However, AI JTACs give MGRS coordinates ; I don't know if there is any way to change that.

As for releasing without target designation, it might not be possible in the future (I am not sure), because GBUs are released in CCRP, and although right now they are released manually by pickle, when fully implemented they should release automatically at the computed release point. Therefore I am not sure it will be possible at all to release a GBU without target designation (notwithstanding the fact that releasing on a designation is much more precise, which helps even a guided bomb).

Concerning AFAC, I have not made many tests, but the very few I did were wholly unsuccessfull.

I like to be sure.

For the best chance to hit a target with GBU-12 in the M-2000C

Where is the best point to be marked with the radar?: OVER the target, before the target? Distance from the target?

What is the best heading respect lasing from ground JTAC or Air buddy lasing?: The same heading? Any +-º arc possible?

What is the altitude range for launching the GBU-12 and have enough space for the bomb to pick the laser?

It´s necessary to mark every time a new terrain point with the radar for every attack pass?

Thanks for any tip.

I`v watched it , but cant figure how you know when its ok to release without CCRP , is there a chart with speed/altitude/distance to target you are using?

TY. After some of test I noticed that the best option is to mark by pointer before the target (100-200 feet)... but if You want to attack from other side next target in the same area it will be a problem (because you'll be behind the target for example) - so if You mark it the best way I think for attack to have the same direction of approach. Remember too to add more time for JTAC (request "IN" and wait for the reply + 10 sec min). Without pointer of CCRP You can attack from any direction (for me 13-14k feet, near 450 kts on my clock and 4.0 miles before the target - 99% to hit something). In video I set up WPY2 as targets area (so I knew where it was).

Good day,

I have a few problems with my Mirage 2000, hope you can help.

I have compared my Module Mirage 2000 to at least 3 tutorial videos on Youtube and it definitely does not work the same.

1) Alarm: The alarm does not sound, unless I move the Audio Warning Switch forward BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE. On the videos none of the presenters come near that switch when the first switch is flipped (Ventilation Selector Switch).

2) Dashboard Panel Lights: I have to hold in the Left button on the mouse and drag to the front position, sometimes, depending in which way I drag the mouse a yellow bright light lights the whole cockpit in the middle, but then there are no lights on dash and panels lid. Once you have released the mouse while this yellow light is on, it does not go off even if the knob is moved to the off position. Other times it works perfectly.

3) Takeoff: The bottom line that you have to lift to the horizon/waterline at 120 knots is way down on the bottom off the HUD, it is not visible it is hidden by the (bracket/rectangle?) sitting vertically in front of the middle bottom of the HUD.

4) Radar: When selecting S30 and MAG I do not get the big circle with the small piper in the middle of the HUD display, nor do I get the cursor/cross on the radar display to lock the targets.

Thank you. Derrick.

Keep in mind that the Mirage is in constant development, Razbam makes great progress every week. So a lot of things change and therefore many early user tutorials are out of date.

ad 1) has been implemented after initial beta release. You should be able to flip the switch to middle position whenever you want and hear alarms from there on

ad 2) functionality has been changed since initial beta release. These are now rotaries, so you can use your method (drag and drop) or simply hover over it and use your mousewheel. Take a close look at these knobs: they are actually (2x) two rotaries stacked one above the other. So be careful to really turn the one you want.

ad 3) n/c, I don't use it. But you could raise your seat to better see it if you want

ad 4) has been changed since initial beta release together with a lot of other HUD functionality

That would be the manual, Zeus tries to keep it as up to date as possible. It's in your DCS\mods\aircraft\m2000c\doc folder. Have fun! :)

@ Yo Yo

How did you know when to pickle your GBU 12 without first locking the terrain near the target with the pipper?

Targets are in WPY2 (like for example in RL attack), I use for this INS and HSI (Nav mode) to check direction and distance + marking on HUD.
