You can fire the gun on the ground. There is a switch at the rear of the left side console. Throw that, and switch on the master arm and gun switches on the armaments panel then just pull the trigger.

Apply your brakes before you fire! :D

 

Not in the A-10C. It's a security precaution.

 

The gun would be rather difficult to test if there was no way to fire it while on the ground.

Be aware of the force produced by firing the Gau-8. It lifts the nose wheel and then pushes the aircraft backwards. There is a video of one landing on a ship with the A-10C, using the Gau-8 to reduce the stopping distance.

I thought CTRL-C allows you to look around with the mouse. you can hit CTRL-C again to go back to be able to click things again ( I might be wrong and it's actually ALT-C). You can also slew the view around with your numpad keys.

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
