Schmuck Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Had an awesome time on the server with a great fight over Sochi then took the fight to Gudauta. Had a discussion with a few of our fellow Red pilots and felt that the server is up for a short time. 3 hours was good for Blue flag as we had Jets but flight times are nearly doubled which means reaction time to attacks are also doubled. I propose the server be up for either 4 or 5 hours to allow some progress to be made on either side. dooom Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 after a few sorties I think I am concluding that the ZSU 23 opposition might be a bit excessive at target. As the mission author for all of the DoW missions, I'd suggest you consider dropping their skill level to average, reduce the density or change them with the M113. The M113 has become the preferred target defense in DoW mission design and might provide as a nice balance for smaller attack wings on this mission. just my thoughts.... Yes they are great but won't fit us unfortunately for now. This could be managed for a one day event but won't be easy to manage for open 24/7 server. The restart is in there to allow the server to run smoothly, we are considering adjusting in case blue to 4-5 hours, it all depends on the testing and stability. Little feedback: Is it possible to set the bombers a bit higher? It would be cool to escort them at 20'000+ ft. As attacker, you can fly low and zoom to the bomber when they are flying over mountains, this makes it really hard for the escorting planes to protect their bomber. Tonight I was trying out the reconnaissance missions in a TF-51, and I lost track of time (my fault). Shortly after taking off for a fairly distant target, the 30 minute reset warning popped up. 30 minutes was only barely enough for time for the round trip. I managed to land with the intel at a friendly airbase, but the server shut down while I was rolling out, so I didn't get to deliver the intel. I suggest a 60 minute warning would be more useful in these slower planes. Maybe warnings at 60, 45, 30, and then every 5 minutes. Other than that, I'm enjoying the server. :)

As you can see in this run, theres no magic in "not getting hit by aaa" ... just circle and wait until they are out of ammo :P To make it a little more challenging, AND to encourage teamwork, i thought of putting one "hard" target there, which is not destroable by guns , BUT not too difficult to hit either. A normal "Building" comes into my mind, cause for a bunker you need a direct hit and its pretty small. For a house a "close" hit is enough to destroy it. gregzagk Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 Some changes in the latest mission file: - Added 1x armed barracks structure on all targets (airbases, oil derricks, cities) - Added trucks to resupply the ZU-23's so they won't spare all their ammunition easily. - JTAC units are now trucks instead of mortars - Transport aircraft drops trucks instead of infantry units - Mission now restarts every 5x hours instead of 3. Will update the SOP asap. We should be ready for the official start soon :) Stay tuned! dooom Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 have you thought about utilizing a "part of coalition in zone" trigger to have a few AAA guns hold fire until a unit is closer? I agree that it may be easy to force gunners to deplete ammo quickly... I think the rearming might be too slow to disincent the strategy... having some gunners hold fire until an attacking unit is closer may work better? The campaign will last for 10 days, till Sunday 17th of April at 21:00 zulu. The SOP pdf file that includes information about registration, rules & features of the campaign will be updated tomorrow with the latest additions and changes.
