It's a complicated plane, both in flight model and systems. I have faith in Leatherneck, and I understand that they have invested tons of time in researching the plane, I just don't know where they are at in development.

That's probably a safe bet. I'm honestly looking forward to F-14 most of all, but Viggen will be very cool. I would just be more hyped for viggen if they gave any substantial teases.

They said about beta in the second half of the year. Where you saw about finish aka "release" in 2016th?

I'd say it's probable.

They've recently dropped some gifs and snippets just after the recent 2016 Q1 Update, which contained Part 1 of the F14 news.

When asked about some of the screenshots, Cobra clarified the cockpit was done (or, nearly) and just textures were WIP in the screen shots. Plus they've had a server up and were doing some MP testing.

Part 2 should clarify where they are, but I'd hazard a guess they're quite far down the line on it now, as it's been a year since announcement and they had a lot of 3D work done back then.

What does "finished" mean? Is the MiG-21 finished? I would rather talk about release. Beta release for the Tomcat is planned for the end of this year as far as I know. But I wouldn't hold my breath on that. The Viggen is also supposed to be released in the first half of this year which ends in two months, but it hasn't even been officially anounced yet.

I'd say it was impossible right now to say when the F-14 will reach us in any form.

Is it reasonable to expect it at any specific time? Absolutely not. It will always be subject to a lot of possible hurdles between now and the day it arrives. DCS World is constantly changing for one thing, and who knows else.

Is it reasonable to expect Leatherneck to do their utmost to get it out according to their schedule - yes, and no one will be more determined than they already clearly are.

Well, if we take the M2000C as example , you can say the model/cockpit was finish when they released beta , all that was left was some missing features and a few (read lots) of bugs.

now , almost 5 months post beta release, there are still some bugs , features are nearly all complete.

would i have preferred RAZBAM to wait 5 month and release it as it is today? hell no.

but from what we know of LNS , they will probably not release a product in such a 'raw' state and would prefer to delay release for a more polished result.

so can we hope for 2016 F-14? maybe , remember that LNS said long time ago that 3D model and graphic assets are pretty much the last thing they do and they prefer to start with system programming. and we are already seeing them flying it ingame.

I remember reading that they expected a closed beta in June 2016, so perhaps an open beta by September 2016 is possible. At least they seem to be pretty far along already, esp. considering that they're nearly done with the aerodynamics/flight characteristics IIRC?

Hopefully we get another update soon :)

Hopefully in the next week!:)

Finished? Absolutely not.

Beta? Sure.

I'm wondering how easy it will be for one person to not only fly it, but run the RIO stuff. Wonder if there'll be an AI RIO option.

Their website is down....either something great is happening or something tragic is, either way it goes the less hype the better.

The website going down means nothing. It's not the first time it's happened.

The f-14 will be out when its out..No need to be rushing it cause then we dont get the product till six months later..

The "SCALES" of aeronautical performance will weigh heavily on your next move..
