I'll be ordering either the ASUS or the Zotac shortly. I am replacing everything but the case and a couple of drives in my current sim machine, so now is a good time to do that as well.

I want to upgrade my machine but i dont know if i can justify buying a 1080..i know polaris wont match but wondering if the wait for Nvidia GP102 pascal/AMD vega might be worth it, also have ZEN by then to choose from.

I find that ironic, they paper launch so far ahead of AMD, and Push out press review copies, but you likely wont get one for another 60 days.

 

? I keep hearing "paper launch", yet local microcenter had at least several FE on their shelves . So I'm afraid that funny accented Youtube expert you echoing is wrong this time .

I am not running to get one untill AIBs establish a good line of them.

Our local MC had a whole 20 cards for sale at 9am on Friday. At 905 they were all gone and they said 2 weeks before new stock would be in according to a guy who was there who showed up later and didn't realize the store opened an hour earlier than normal for this launch. High demand and low stock = paper launch every day of the week in my book. This entire rollout of this card has been a disaster like many others they have had. I was only ever able to get one of their cards on day one for two launches - the 8800 and the 400 series. Every other single time it's been a high demand low stock paper launch. It will be at least a month and most likely two before you can walk into a store or go online on demand and find one of these in stock.

hi! can you test Rift on 780 before switching to 1080GTX? or better test it on sli 780, then single 780, then 1080.

I have a DK2, and i can tell you, just flying with nothing else around with settings basically all the way down works fine around 55 fps average....

 

get a few planes in the air around you it drops into the 20's....

 

in general, with a 780 and DK2, it's not playable, except solo flights...

I plan on getting a non-reference 1080 and two more 27" 1440p monitors and giving that a go.

I'll be happy to do some FPS testing and post it here. I"m sure the values will not vary much from what Hadwell has stated but I'll do it anyway. The 1080 is probably a couple weeks out so I'll have plenty of time to play with the 780s.

I modded their database to take my AMD Stuff off their blacklist so I dont have to see that stupid "You PC Doesnt Meet the recommended Specs" Flag everywhere.

 

My PC does Fine when it doesnt Lock my GPUs at 501MHz
