Are there any common reasons I can't join the server? To be specific, I can connect, and it will partially render the 3d environment, sometimes even load the aircraft selection screen, and then I will immediately disconnect. I've tried checking game cache, and also replacing all script files with the defaults.

 

Is there a way for DCS to output networking debug info? I've tried disabling the firewall and no joy, though I can connect to other servers too. I've also registered here and on the buddyspike.net site.

Oculus CV1, i7 4790k @ stock, gtx 1080ti @ stock, 32gb PC3-19200 @ 2.4ghz, warthog & saitek pedals, razer tartarus chroma.

have you checked the ping times on server list? many servers have a max. ping setting, if your ping is too high. you will get auto-kicked.

Thanks for the feedback.

 

About the Heli's at the FARP, It's a known issue and I believe a bug that's been reported to ED already.

 

 

I belive that heli (Mi 8 )is roling back due to land scape angle. Hui is not as it not or rolling wheels.

 

Potential solution - change FARP placement angle accross land scape. At list try it...

Tbilisi is the impregnable stronghold =)

Another course is the interaction problem.In red team between russian and usa/canada/italy/germany guys and etc communication on a primitive level.

Certainly enough to communicate, but want more.

a lot of fun and our foreign friends are very good.To have to learn English)

have you checked the ping times on server list? many servers have a max. ping setting, if your ping is too high. you will get auto-kicked.

 

That could be it, my ping is high, about 360ms. Can anyone confirm if there's a max ping setting, and what it is?

I keep telling this to everyone, RED coms are a cluster, but language barrier is not the problem, it is organisation and com discipline. If everyone split up in their respective channels, formed flights, kept commander channel clean and stuck to brevity code, we would not have those problems.

This would also better allow for the GCI to play the role of a general (that requires a commitment from the pilots aswell, be ready to follow orders, don't be a special snowflake).

If we do this we might actually be able to come up with a plan to finally conquer Tibilisi.

Sure, and the fact that it would affect both teams means my point is even more relevant. It wouldn't be out of the question to have basically nobody flying on ether team towards the end of the life cycle because they were all used up early on.

 

As for the second point: this is not a training server. I'm always happy to answer questions, and I ask a fair few myself, but this is not the environment to be practising your takeoffs and landings. If this were a closed doors event, I think your idea would work fantastically with a little modification (life numbers of individual aircraft rather than just the entire team) as it would encourage teamwork, but given that literally anyone with an internet connection can (and does) join, I don't think it will work unless the team structure changes drastically.

There is a max ping setting, the 104th guys got it implemented a few rounds ago, I can't remember what it is however.

I think its getting already boring enough. This round is stalled under the current conditions. The chopper problem is game related but also player related. Most chopper pilots get bored of flying for 40min to an uncertain death. the hole transport role needs re-thinking to keep those players motivated or you will end up with an airquake scenario with a twist.

 

Most people complain about this chopper pilot scarse usually dont own/fly choppers. I do transport most of the time, so I cant relate with this capture begging for pilot thing and dont see this as an issue.

 

The problem is even higher with blue chopper pilots, as red team uses infrared and finds us all the time (GCI is also a big boost)... add these deaths to the crashes, disconnects and server restarts and even a 15 min flight becomes impossible. Imagine a 45 min flight just to reach the AO and time is over or you get disconnected/crash. Even with CAP the death is behind the corner...

Capturing the Sukhumi/Gauduta airfields is a 1h ride thru the mountain for the red as well. While blue has no EOS, we fly at their radar level so.... :D

 

Also, heli route are known. Catching blue helis inbound for Beslan, you don't even need anything. They is one valley where you can find them easily.

 

Changing FARP location may help renew the experience a bit.

I am no fan of the biased or hacking or whatevar , but we took Gudauta and sukhumi before restart, well before the 10min warning. Literally I flew there from Gudaute when there were still 40min remaining.

 

On restart, both closed again.

 

 

I messaged Xcom directly after server restart, server wasnt even up a minute. Poked him, messaged him, would have joined channel but apparently not enough join power.

 

Xcom didnt even respond.

 

 

I find this pretty unacceptable.

Checked now. You are blue as I see in the logs. You said you captured Gudauta & Sukhumi well before 10 minutes warning. I see in from the logs that this is true and ok.

 

Sukhumi & Gudauta is now Blue. But when you capture they need some time before being operational again (repair time is 15-35 minutes).

 

So as server restarted these minutes were not passed. They should be available soon when the time pass.

 

Please tell me if I got something wrong cause I am still at work.

This is very common, happens with red or blue. Seems like if the base is 20% or lower it will be closed on restart.

@frostie he was not in AFK channel so I would expect he is not AFK :P.

We delivered repair crates for sukhumi, that didnt spawn more then the two bunkers.

But thats probably because buggy, was already closed after 20% repair on last restart.

Gudauta was 60% up again last time i checked before restart, that was something like 30 min before restart.

 

To be totally sure I dont mess up with my memory beeing wrong or something, we had sa3s at gudauta and two bunkers on sukhumi because it didnt repair before 10 minute warning.

Was GCI, thats why I know it.

So I dont understand why they are closed again.

 

So I guess something is buggy there ?

 

If we only captured them I would have perfectly understand that but with the repair crates on sukhumi not working i really just think something is buggy there.

Can send track for proof, if needed. But now that the server has moved on i dont know if a reset back to before restart is a good idea tbh. ;D

 

Mainly interested in getting the bug fixed. :D

There is no way to conquer tiblisi. It has the same "bug" Senaki and others have. Even if we capture its repair condition is delayed (Yes Greg you could say we dont know how to capture again please.).

 

It takes 30 second for a hot started chooper to bring a repair crate to any Airbase in the cluster and keep the 100%.

 

Many red have lost interest because of this condition. while blue gets more number every day.

I was not sure where the hot start were thanks for clearing it out. even if its only 2 hot. and the others cold its the cluster distance thats uniquely challenging,

 

Its the easiest to defend never the less.

Afaik all helis start cold at Tbilisi. But ye sure, with two mi8s doing handbreak rolling landings its easy to repair/refuel.

 

Now that the situation is over, I can disclose some statistics, was kinda organizing AAA asset deployment on tuesday night. [Dunno first day of defence on Tblisi.]

 

We had 18 stingers, 5 KUBs 3 EWRs and a few ammo trucks to rearm stingers and KUB repair crate flights to keep the KUBs stocked. :D

 

Btw, is it intended that ammo truck only can rearm stingers ? At least our KUBs only got replenished by KUB repair crates.

I had to get up at 7.30 this morning because Blue were capturing at a crazy rate being 8v0, I thought that bases couldn't be taken under such circumstances.

Please, please, please can Red have a free run for several hours in at least round 8, tired of this free ride Blue get every round. :)

Yeah maybe bases should not be captured if there is no opposition. I logged on this morning and it was 11 blue 0 red with sochi/gudauta under attack.
