I think, different type of clouds are important as well, for a flight sim, not only the ground textures, buildings, etc.

That's not a mod, there are just some printscreens from some other combat flight sim ( broken saturated cumulus clouds )

Well since i don't actually own an nvidia card i'm not too sure of how bad the FPS drop is (AMD R9 card here) best way is to try the modified files yourself and see.

This is exactly what i mean, when i have these clouds enabled my FPS hit is nowhere near as severe, something really disagrees with nV cards and the way these clouds are rendered.

Let's hope, ED will release in the near future some better clouds, with different types.

Okay, this isn't a weather simulator, but it would be nice to have the choice, for the type of clouds :)

Some examples, I've also enabled SMAA via ReShade to remove any aliasing that occurs with the clouds downsampling effect on objects/terrain, it looks so much cleaner with no real FPS change (so glad i have a decent AMD graphics card to handle it :))

Hi All

Tried this last night with my 980 TI and yep over half's frame rates :(

I7 4790K @ 4.8ghz with asus Strix 980TI and 16 GB of RAM

 

Normally 100 +fps in the sky with these clouds as low as high 30's. But they look soo nice :(

Precisely, we can't complain about something that shouldn't even be used yet, for all we know ED could be making completely different types of cloud models and these are just leftovers in the code that we can just play around with :)

Just a little update, I've solved a problem with luminous outlines of terrain showing through clouds in some instances, package updated for those that are brave to try it :)

Yeah but they don't seem to be as prevalent as they were before, it's just something we have to live with if we use these clouds.
