It's not. No more slanted angle, but the head position is wrong and the limitations are still there.

It is, the Slanting and interference from the Mouse is Fixed, that was the Actual Bug Report for this Thread.

Regarding the The Head Movement and Limitations

See Reply:

"over the shoulder" fix for track IR is not included to this update , but fixed already in internal version ( together with combined arms TIR and VR sight camera ) .

Overall using of Track IR is fixed - slanted view bug , mouse interraction etc.

Somehting might be fixed but the rest of TrackIR is now bugged... did you try it out yourself?

Is it possible to port the TrackIR settings over from DCS 2.0 to get it back like it used to be?

Yes I Did,

What Exactly is Wrong?

Ima say, The Z Axis is now Z Movement and Not Zoom.

It Emulates Actual head Movement and not NUMPAD KEYS 2,4,6,8

When I pause TrackIR there is a message "Headtracker disabled"... this is okay, but the view centers automatically. This is very annoying on ground where I setup my view to see the whole cockpit and disable TrackIR to be able to reach the clickspots better.

Yeah, it's unplayable as it is now :( I was used to pause my TrackIR often during cold starts.....impossible now to make a cold start in MI-8 or even worse, A10 with clickable buttons everywhere

And when the view is "off-limits", it auto-centers itself.....

Thougn updated, I still recommend everybody to modified the DCS World OpenBeta\Config\Input\Aircrafts\Default\trackir\default.lua

What Exactly is Wrong?

Default view changed:

It used to be this (taken from the DCS 2.0 as example):

zU14mhN.png

And it turned into this after today's 1.5.4 update:

VBrRaRS.png

This means that my current TrackIR profile that i used for both 1.5 and 2.0 is useless because on 1.5 now the look down views with the TrackIR don't work any more like they do in 2.0 which were just working great.

If i reposition myself as in the to the second view, i loose the bottom part of the HUD now.

This means i have to create a new TrackIR profile for 1.5 and then switch it each time i want to fly 2.0... for the same aircraft... and if i forget to switch it, i can quit the game, switch the TrackIR profile and load the game again.

I also added a mission file with a serious problem that was working perfect yesterday before the update.

Load it, fly it, then in the middle of the decend (it's a landing mission with a crosswind), hit the ecsape button, quit and then select "Fly Again". After entering the misison again TrackIR and the other HOTAS controlles stopped working. This worked perfect until the update.

That's not a solution. The moment you re-activate Trackir it jumps back the default view.

Everything went back to normal using the fix for the previous OB.

Can you explain "in detail" what you did?

Because i don't think i have a previous OB....

There's no telling how long the old controller will be usable, and supported.

The issue is we all have decade+ of being Used to trackIR being a simple 6DoF manipulation of the default F1 View, Now it's being tracked by true position,

ie,

Now It's:

Facing Forward = Facing Forward, Looking Left = Looking Left, Leaning Forward = Leaning Forward

Previously:

Facing Forward = The Default F1 Downward View, Looking Left = Rotating Camera Left without effecting pitch, Leaning Forward = Zoom.

Whatever the controller, I hope this implementation isn't final. Because honestly, it's far from good.

It's not, as I posted the quote from the dev about over the should and other items being fixed in the pipeline.

Today was mainly about fixing the mouse over-ride/interference issues causing views to not work at all and desync.

The issue is that its also not consistent. It works differently between planes - in my case Mig-21 and Mirage are the same (seem to be correct), Mi-8 and A-10 work differently, at half of the speed of Mig-21 and Mirage.

I've deleted "Input" folder from my local DCS.OpenBeta directory. This didn't help.

You're right, but let the good old TrackIR as it was so far please.

If we want to "emulate" real view for a real sim, we'll buy a VR Headset ;)

Thank you in advance.

Thx Texac. I know about this fix.

The other issue is that this patch in DCS will require updating TrackIR profiles - which I have spend tons of time to setup and got used to them through months playing DCS.

I'm trying to understand what is the improvement for TiR users? Why to fix something that didn't seem to be broken.

DCS is 90% tweaking and re-setting up the entire thing over and over again and only 10% playing. It should be the other way around.

Now It's:

Facing Forward = Facing Forward, Looking Left = Looking Left, Leaning Forward = Leaning Forward

Previously:

Facing Forward = The Default F1 Downward View, Looking Left = Rotating Camera Left without effecting pitch, Leaning Forward = Zoom.

I can live with the restricted "over the shoulder view" since i always felt it was overdone anyway.

I only see a difference on the Facing Forward part. What's wrong with the Default F1 Downward View anyway? There is not much downward view at all in that view.

I don't see any difference in the Looking Left or Leaning Forward views between the 2 versions.

But what about the switch back to default looking forward view when the TrackIR is set to pause mode? What's the reason behind this? It can't be real life since if i look left and pause myself, my brain doesn't jump to forward view...

Like if i wanted to use the CDU i looked down right with the TrackIR and then paused it to get a stabe view for working with the CDU (i'm not good at keeping TrackIR stable while following the mouse). But now the view flips back to default forward view. If i then want to work with the CDU i have to use the view buttons to put the view on the CDU. What's the idea behind this behaviour?

That's because when TIR is Paused, it returns you to NUMPAD/KB/MOUSE Input.

As Soon as You unpause view will jump to current tracked position from TIR Input.

Whether or not this is going to be adjusted, I cannot say.

I would Use Snap Views for the Panels in those area's, So Much easier.

But Snap Views don't "stick". I don't use them because i always feel i lack an extra hand to operate them or i might overlook something... (and i don't have room on my HOTAS to implement them there).
