Arikaj Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Hi guys. Just one question. Whenever I try to put L/L coordinates it gives me CDU INPUT ERROR . With latitude coordinates I don't have problems. But after putting the longitude coordinates the CDU gives me that error. And UTM coordinates work fine. So it's a bug or am I doing something wrong? I watched at least 5 videos and doing it step by step but nothing worked. Thanks

I'm guessing you may have to add a leading 0, but it's hard to tell from your vague description. ;) What are the exact coords that you punch in? Also, where do you get them from? Reading the F10 map, listening to a JTAC, reading them from the mission briefing, from a text message, ...? Which version of DCS do you have installed?

I think you have to add a leading zero to the easting, though I'm no expert on the lat/long system. If you happen to have a quick training mission available, just try entering 0422537 for longitude. Not at my rig right now, but will also try when I'm back tonight. 1

Arikaj Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 Good to know, glad it's working now. And enjoy the campaign, it's really great! :) Thanks and I hope so! I had to restart the campaign because I had a bug in mission 4, that didn't allow me to continue...But I believe I will have better luck now with it.
LeCuvier Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I was struggling with the same issue today and this thread helped me to get it right. And now that I think about it it's even logical that longitude needs 3 digits for the degrees, since longitude can be up to 180° E or W while latitude can only be 90 ° N or S. I find the subject of adding waypoints poorly documented. I was messing around for an hour and I could not see the new waypoint when I cycled through. Until I realized that the process described in the manual creates a "mission point" and the left switch ("STEER PT")" must be set to "Mission" in order to use the newly created mission point. To add a WP/MP, or whatever, to your flight plan: After you create a new one, ensure PAGE knob is set to OTHER, then press FPM. Press LSK R1 on the CDU to edit the current flight plan. Press the PG DWN button to move to the next page if you need to get to the end of the flight plan. Type name of WP you created earlier. It should pop up after a few letters entered. Press the Left LSK next to the entry that is empty (it says NEXT), and the WP is added to the end of the plan. You can dick around with it to learn how to replace a WP or Insert one in the middle as well. In fact, you don't even have to enter the name, if you know the WP number. Just put that in, and it comes up when you press the LSK to add it. Violin!
Oscar Juliet Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Just to add more clear help in case someone else has a problem and is searching. 1) Always add a 0 to the front of your East L/L Coords 2) When using MGRS and you get a string of numbers with GG or LM or whatever in front. You must type the letters first and enter. Then do the numbers separate or you'll get errors too. My Youtube Channel
Raistlen007 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 That second one is incorrect. You can type in a letter and number combination.
Panhead Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 That second one is incorrect. You can type in a letter and number combination. truth. as an added bonus, any subsequent utm coordinates in the same letter grid do not require anything but numbers. the letters are inserted automagically. 1
Oscar Juliet Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I will attempt to recreate such an error then. I was at an airbase a long way off from the grid and when I typed in the coords with the letters up front it gave me a cdu error. I had to type in the letters first and enter. Then the numbers and it worked just fine. There are all kinds of weird quirks that happen and sometimes we don't understand it. So if I find anything different I'll post here for informational purposes. My Youtube Channel

So if I find anything different I'll post here for informational purposes. One issue might be the wrong grid (38T vs. 37T) Another issue is that the numbers have to be even, not odd. So for example, MM123451234 won't work because there's 9 digits, and its expecting 8 or 10. Just for testing, put in two digits. It autofills zeroes to 10 digit, so MM12 ---> MM 10000 20000 Hope that helps!
