bones1014 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 The ground mapping radar functions aren't available because DCS doesn't support it. Is there any word of if it will be a future feature? I did some looking around and couldn't find a thread about it.
ZHeN Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 why do you think Mirage 2000C RDI should be capable of ground mapping ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Darkbrotherhood7 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 why do you think Mirage 2000C RDI should be capable of ground mapping ? Because it is capable IRL. Mission: "To intercept and destroy aircraft and airborne missiles in all weather conditions in order to establish and maintain air superiority in a designated area. To deliver air-to-ground ordnance on time in any weather condition. And to provide tactical reconaissance imagery" - F-14 Tomcat Roll Call [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ZHeN Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 are you sure you're not mixing it up with ground avoidance mode ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
QuiGon Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 [...] Unfortunately the A/G modes are not possible at this time since they require A/G radar support. They will be incorporated when the A/G radar support becomes available. Terrain mapping and Terrain avoidance. In this case terrain avoidance is a subset of terrain mapping. It color codes terrain above and below the aircraft's altitude. Green for below, red for above. It is a really good feature in low level flight. It also warns you when you get too close to terrain below or on the sides. One interesting feature is that while you cannot lock a target in this mode, if you enter this mode with a locked target you don't lose the lock. So you can ambush high flying aircraft by flying low. ;) 1 Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
bones1014 Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 why do you think Mirage 2000C RDI should be capable of ground mapping ? Because it says it can in the manual but DCS doesn't allow it yet. Like I said in my post.

3rd Wing - Raiden Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Sorry guys but M-2000C RDI doesn't have A/G radar features. Only Antilope V radar has. Not on the M-2000C. TFR is on the N and D variants.
Darkbrotherhood7 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 (edited) Sorry guys but M-2000C RDI doesn't have A/G radar features. Only Antilope V radar has. That's not what the manual says. For air-to-air combat, the RDI provides a 120° cone of coverage, the antenna scanning at either 50 or 100°/s, with ±60, ±30 or ±15° scan. For air-to-air gun attacks, the 3.5° beam can be locked to the target at up to 19 km (10 nmi) range, with automatic tracking within the head-up display field of view, or in a 'super-search' area, or in a vertical search mode. The system can look up or down, range while searching, track-while-scan, provide continuous tracking, generate aiming signals for air combat and compute attack and firing envelopes. For the strike role it provides real-beam ground-mapping, terrain-avoidance and air-to-ground ranging. :music_whistling: Plus, Zeus said that A/G radar will be implement when A/G radar support becomes available. Azrayen said that only the M2000N/D have terrain following radar, which is a A/G radar mode, he didn't said that the M2000C RDI doesn't have A/G radar. WinterH Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I remember that RDI really did not have A/G modes, earlier RDM apparently has some, but not RDI. Later RDY and already A/G focused Anthelope also have them. Can some of the more Mirage savvy folks clarify? Jojo, Azrayen? jojo Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Sorry guys but M-2000C RDI doesn't have A/G radar features. Only Antilope V radar has. Your quote of Azrayen is about Terrain Following Radar. So RDI radar can't do that. Yet the RDI has map mode (VIS button on radar panel) and anti collision mode (DEC button) similar to the one found in Hornet/ Super Hornet for those who know it (look for VRS Super Hornet if you don't know). As far as I know map mode is very simple, and doesn't allow to attack targets or update the nav. Mirage fanatic ! Knock-Knock Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Is what ever we might be getting, this 'mode'/screen perhaps? Followed sedenion's image from the VTB Rework thread, to one of its potential sources and saw this one, and wondered what it was. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
Knock-Knock Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Ah yea, I figured that much, but what ever mode it was, I was wondering what mode it might be, and if that was what was still missing from our 2000C. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
sedenion Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 don't know what mode it is, or what mode is missing, but the 2000-5 is a very different aircraft with a different radar, next generation one. So, comparing 2000C to 2000-5 is a bad idea... like comparing MsDOS to Windows...

As said this is Mirage 2000-5F. Fox 3 shooter with RDY radar and Mica missiles. Mica missiles are selected. On left MFD you have Mica page (missile's options + ADI). HSI on right MFD. Tactical situation display on down VTB (flight plan, SAM sites and so on...). You can't display all that on Mirage 2000C VTB. Mirage fanatic !
