AnnaNass Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 KC-135 Tanker with basket adapter for the ability to refuel aircrafts with fuelprobes (f.e. M-2000)

AnnaNass Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=167480 ? That is a modification
MikeMikeJuliet Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=167480 Its nice such mods exist, razo+r, but that doesn't remove the need for an official nato tanker with baskets. You can't rely on MP servers to have every single mod installed. A greater interest on the subject is bound to rise after the F-18 gets released since so many will apparently be focusing on it... and not being able to do AAR with it without Russian tankers will probably cause the current situation to change. I hope. DCS Finland | SF squadron

VTJS17_Fire Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Yeah. The S-3B has enough fuel for one or two aircraft with external fuel tanks. +1 for an KC-135 with basket or any other NATO tanker with p&d system. AnnaNass Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 There's an S-3B Tanker Go on servers and you'll see there are sometimes M-2000 but only a KC-135 tanker. And DCS will become a realistic simulator one day and KC-135 have basket adapters in RL.
probad Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 should ask for kc-135 with basket pods instead, basket adapter would require a second aircraft for the boom fuelers.
WHOGX5 Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 should ask for kc-135 with basket pods instead, basket adapter would require a second aircraft for the boom fuelers. +1 This! -Col. AnnaNass Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 should ask for kc-135 with basket pods instead, basket adapter would require a second aircraft for the boom fuelers. My idea: If an aircraft requests to refuel, the KC-135 checks the kind of aircraft and f.e. if it's a M-2000 the boom has the basket adapter and if it's an A-10C the boom doesn't have the adapter.

If we are to keep with the realism here, that wouldn't really be viable. We either need a refueler with both capabilities simultaneously, or have two separate tankers. It's the mission builder job to make sure all required assets are placed in the mission. DCS Finland | SF squadron

We either need a refueler with both capabilities simultaneously, or have two separate tankers. It's the mission builder job to make sure all required assets are placed in the mission. We can't count on the mission builders. Every third mission I am unable to refuel with my M-2000 because there is only a KC-135 which is only useable for A-10c. So we have to found another solution, independend of mission builders. I'm pilot but not for tankers - can they add and remove the adapter in flight?
probad Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 (edited) can they add and remove the adapter in flight? yes i have found documentation here :) seriously, no. its a modification made on the ground, they go up as designated tanker for basketfuelers. like i said earlier, the basket pods are the real one size fits all solution https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9a/Boeing_KC-135R_Multipoint_Refueling.JPEG Edited September 28, 2016 by probad 1
MikeMikeJuliet Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Well, I bet mission makers start realizing this problem as aircraft with basket-refueling increase. DCS Finland | SF squadron
probad Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 yes, nothing technical preventing mission makers from putting up il-78s

AnnaNass Posted September 29, 2016 Author Posted September 29, 2016 yes, nothing technical preventing mission makers from putting up il-78s You are rightbut they don't too often R3bTHzmuOTY Nice air combat skin. Loved that game. Good old PS times. This multi refueling capabilities KC-135 would be the best solution for DCS
MikeMikeJuliet Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 You could always go to the mission makers subforum and ask mission makers to take this point with them to provide. DCS Finland | SF squadron
AnnaNass Posted September 29, 2016 Author Posted September 29, 2016 You could always go to the mission makers subforum and ask mission makers to take this point with them to provide. Every time I join a server and see this issue? 1 time ok, 2 times hmmm but 5 times? No :joystick:

MikeMikeJuliet Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Every time I join a server and see this issue? 1 time ok, 2 times hmmm but 5 times? No :joystick: Which one do you think is an easier fix? A mapmaker adds one existing aircraft to a map, or ED implementing a completely new one, or even change the current one to be even more unrealistic than it currently is? Besides, you don't know how long it takes to get the maps fixed... could be a matter of minutes if you're lucky. Try it at the very least. If you have time to post 3 nev threads here, I don't think you would't have time for a fourth. No hard feelings intended. DCS Finland | SF squadron
drPhibes Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 (...)or even change the current one to be even more unrealistic than it currently is? Which part of KC-135s carrying mk32B pods do you find unrealistic?
MikeMikeJuliet Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Which part of KC-135s carrying mk32B pods do you find unrealistic? I meant the suggestion that the 135 would change it's capabilities midflight due to a different aircraft asking for fuel. If it can carry both the boom and the baskets at the same time, then that should be implemented. DCS Finland | SF squadron
USSInchon Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Or, they could bring back the KC-10 which has both boom and drogue on the centerline.
