Greyman Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 There are reports on the Oculus forums, that the right control works when the left doesn't, but as left ctrl seems to work for me, it would appear to be somewhat inconsistent, but then again i had ASW enabled with OH 1.9. As far as what you can do to improve matters, if you can't turn it off, as the problems appear to result from the frame rate dropping below 45fps, adjust your graphics settings down until you get a solid 45fps. For me, once i had done that, it got rid of all of the wobbly HUD on take-off and other funky graphical issues that i had only previously been able to disable by turning ASW off. On the bright side, it hasn't noticeably worsened the experience and on an even brighter side, DCS version 2 does appear to perform noticeably better than 1.5.
Gladman Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Nothing changed on ED's end, this was an Oculus Change. Yeah I know. But I assume it would be up to the individual companies to compensate for it. As I said, I'm sure ED will fix it in time. i9 9900K @ 5.1Ghz - ASUS Maximus Hero XI - 32GB 4266 DDR4 RAM - ASUS RTX 2080Ti - 1 TB NVME - NZXT Kraken 62 Watercooling System - Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas (Virpil Base) - MFG Crosswind Pedals - Pimax 5K+ VFA-25 Fist Of The Fleet [sigpic]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic99190_2.gif[/sigpic] Virtual Carrier Strike Group 1 | Discord
fierceBeaver Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 ASW works great here. I have a 980TI. I see you have a R9. Could it be a AMD driver issue? What in-game greaphics configuration do you use? Do you use rendertarget multiplayer? I have 1070 but can't say it's "great" when i fly over cities or use medium settings
RoyMi6 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 I've not confirmed this myself but I read somewhere that the CTRL+numpad settings are only made available if you enable the registry setting. I.e. Oculus have basically said that since the update the registry setting is not required to enable it, but adding the registry setting allows those key combinations to work. Worth a try if you're having issues and want to tinker. Also, it's worth pointing out that ASW isn't designed as silver bullet to "fix" a game like DCS. The performance improvements required to make DCS work as a VR flight sim are still as essential as they were when the Rift/Vive first launched, it's just not we have this neat little software solution that helps out in certain circumstances. It's easy to bash on it when you're looking for flaws (if you read the technical documentation it lists every flaw that people have mentioned here, elsewhere and more) but if you stop looking, and start playing, you'll quickly stop caring - at least I have :)

capthaltli Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Thanks for the heads up! I tried ASW with 1.9 using the reg edit and didn't like it. Experienced the same things you all are talking about (weird distortions and artifacts), so I disabled it. My Oculus is set for auto-update, but I disconnected my DCS PC from the internet before launching yesterday to make sure that it was disabled and didn't get the 1.10 update. Hope they get it sorted soon. [sIGPIC] "GOONIE" [/sIGPIC] "GOONIE" CSG-1 VFA-25
Einherjer Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Got it and love it! Since 1.5.5 + oculus 1.10 I have constantly good performance, no lags no artifacts hardly never under 45 fps. Seems to depend on the system
Neldrion Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I have good performance and no problems too. DCS 1.5.5 + Oculus 1.10 everything fine ! Badger633 Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I am having the same issues with ASW and cannot deactivate with the control and 1,2,3 and 4 buttons very annoying. However that aside I recently updated my graphics driver ( I am using gigabyte extreme water cooled NVidia 1080). On updating I had terrible and I mean terrible frame rates. So I installed the older driver again and the frame rates were ok again but still with the ASW problems ( (90 to 45 and distortions etc) For me there seemed to be two issues at play . The ASW update and the NVidia driver. I am using the 375.70 driver now. So a lot better than the newer driver but still fed up with ASW. Not sure if anyone else has had this but thought I would just put it out there. metzger Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I have old driver which worked ffine before the update, also works perfectly fine in 1.5. ASW on or off makes no difference - 10-15 frames with "vr" preset settings. Something with the vr support is broken. Don't mess with your drivers. DerekSpeare Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 ASW works well with DCS. It makes a positive difference for me. Results vary from sim to sim. I don't recommend it when you can sustain frame rates >90; there's no reason for it then.
