It used to be a upgrade version, to Blackshark 2, in order to use it on DCS ... however It seems that it isnt available anymore:

Try to contact ED by e-mail to see if there is any way to get this upgrade version.

Don't bother.

Like Rudel_chw said, there used to be an upgrade from BS to BS2, but that caused many, many problems and was discontinued several years ago.

The only way to integrate Black Shark into DCS World is to get a BS2 full license (or use the old upgrade license, in case you have one).

The smoothest way would be to wait for a sale.

TBH: It's worth it. I wouldn't mind if ED gave all owners of a BS1 license a full BS2 license, but in any case, the integration of BS2 into DCS World alone is such a huge step that it's absolutely worth it -- especially if you think about flying Multiplayer.

If you're mainly going to fly the black shark don't make the mistake I did and Buy the Nevada terrain to get DCS world 2.

There is Nothing really to do in world 2, stick with 1.5.4 it's free with your purchase of black shark 2.

The Caucasus campaigns are missing in world 2, at one time it was rumored that they would be updated for world 2 but I don't know if that will ever happen but I'd wait before spending more money..

To the contrary!

Although you seem dissatisfied with NTTR purchase I would not negate its purpose like you just did. There are people who enjoy Nevada and find it really interesting alternative to the free map you mentioned. In terms of the graphics engine and fidelity it offers a lot more actually.

If you don't like it, that's fine by me but I find it difficult to resist to respond to such allegations.

It's not an allegation it's an opinion.

I didn't negate the purpose.

For me it has no purpose, of course there are people who get a lot out of the NTTR, I'm not one of them.

It may have something to do with the fact that there is virtually nothing to do relative to world 1.5.4, I have both and don't run dcs world 2 at all, I would gladly give it back for a refund without feeling any loss at all.

It (NTTR) was for me personally a waste of my money and it's no ones fault but my own for not educating myself to what exactly dcs world 2 + NTTR would give me as a Black shark pilot.

I was simply trying to help those who are in a situation like myself where money is very limited for entertainment and it's best to spend it well.

P.S. Yes it does look prettier but I'd rather have some ugly son of a bitches trying to stop me from completing my missions then fly around looking at crap (city of Las Vegas?).

If NTTR or world 2 had the Caucasus type Campaigns for the black shark all would be well, until such time I'll fly 1.5.4.

I feel like I'm expected to make my own add on mod/product (campaigns/missions) to use the one I bought.

Like MS selling MS Office without any fonts but a font builder then tell them it's for their own good because everyone wants their own font. :-D

I reiterate I am NOT attacking DCS, had I done more reading, sometimes between the lines.

I would have seen that there is NO promises of any free campaigns for the black shark like we have in world 1.5.4. That is on ME!

IRL it's a big training area for the US Armed Forces (plus guests). I don't think it's fair to expect the NTTR map to include the old Black Shark campaigns - they would need to be rebuilt from scratch, but story-wise wouldn't make any sense at all in that environment.

I'm sure content will come for this map; for example we've already seen an F-15C and an A-10C campaign.

At this point, I think it delivers exactly what was promised. Plus, it's an Early Access release and as such not necessarily feature complete.

I was simply trying to help those who are in a situation like myself where money is very limited for entertainment and it's best to spend it well.

Fair enough.

But I think no one except you ever mentioned anything about NTTR or Nevada or DCS World 2 in this thread, so the risk of someone making the same perceived mistake as you seems somewhat limited to me right now. :music_whistling:

Something like 80% of the included fonts should be prohibited anyway. :D

I know nothing was mentioned about NTTR that's why I mentioned it I wished I had seen a post like mine before investing in world 2 I can give you some quotes from the powers that be about the future of black shark and allowing the transfer of the Caucasus if it wasn't promised it was implied.

I don't think it'll happen but I'm not putting any more into it until I know for sure I'll be happy with the results so I'll wait until further development. I wonder can I give my key away right here for NTTR I'd love to give it to somebody for free who might get more out of it.

I guess I'll send an email to DCS asking. I don't even want a refund I just want to give it away that's how little I personally feel about it.

I've been in this since the very first black shark software hit the public and it's always been more of a kit then a complete project and that was understood but some of us were hoping it would develop to the point where we didn't have to use our time building we could be flying and others would make the product but it hasn't done that I'll probably keep checking back like I have been doing and if it doesn't die it has to be better lol.

This exact same basic point has been made in these forums countless times over the years so I don't feel alone.

"story wise" It would still be the same story it was said that the terrains would need to be updated the only change to me would be better graphics same story that WAS the plan.

As it is now what is the Nevada story I haven't heard that one.

Thanks for your thoughts.

[...] I can give you some quotes from the powers that be about the future of black shark and allowing the transfer of the Caucasus if it wasn't promised it was implied.

Oh, okay, wait, I think I misunderstood part of your point.

Do you mean the fact that the Caucasus Map is not yet available in 2.0? That is sure to come.

DCS World 1.5: Current Release Version, Caucasus map only. Free of charge.

DCS World 2.0: Current Open Alpha Version, Nevada map only. Nevada map must be purchased.

DCS World 2.5: Future Combined Version with both maps (and more maps later on). AFAIK, 2.5 and the Caucasus map will remain free of charge, but the Nevada map most likely will still cost extra.

In short, 2.0 will not include the Caucasus map.

The Caucasus map is going to be converted to a new standard, giving it more detail like much improved grass and allowing integration into the same version as the Nevada map. I think that's what you're referring to, isn't it? This step is still to come, and while I don't know any schedule, for all I know nothing changed about the plan to release it as soon as it's ready.

I wonder can I give my key away right here for NTTR I'd love to give it to somebody for free who might get more out of it.

I think you can do that in your account on digitalcombatsimulator.com. There you should be able to unbind it, and then give it to another user. I'm not 100% sure regarding the procedure, but you should be able to find the details in the forum.

"story wise" It would still be the same story it was said that the terrains would need to be updated the only change to me would be better graphics same story that WAS the plan.

Hold on, are you saying that ED announced to transfer the old Black Shark campaigns to the Nevada map? I don't think I ever heard of that, and to be honest, it doesn't sound very likely.

If you mean that the Caucasus map will get an upgrade, like I said above, that's still on the table.

As it is now what is the Nevada story I haven't heard that one.

Sorry, I don't understand the question. What story?

The DCS Nevada map covers the Nevada Test and Training Range, or NTTR in short. It's home for the Red Flag campaigns, and also home to the Thunderbirds USAF Demo team. The map also includes the famous Groom Lake base, better known as Area 51.

IMHO, porting any of the old Black Shark campaigns to the Nevada map wouldn't make any sense at all, because they're mostly based on conflicts including Russia, seeing as it's a Russian only attack helicopter. Nevada has definitely seen a few Russian aircraft over the years, but that doesn't make a story about Russian conflicts any more believable in that map.

Well my upgrade still works, so they definitely didn't bin it as claimed further up the thread.
