Kaszub Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Exactly this ^^^^^^ At NASA you wouldn't have a security guard inspect space suits, at ED you wouldn't have a 3D modeler fix core game issues. So maybe they don't need that many "security guards" and need more "tailors"...:music_whistling:
ED Team NineLine Posted November 9, 2016 ED Team Posted November 9, 2016 Its not so easy to just hire more "tailors" It takes them time to get acclimated with what ED is doing before they can even become productive, and thats not even accounting for finding a GOOD "tailor".... Sryan Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Even if you had the tailors.. nine women can't deliver a baby in one month. Check my F-15C guide
Pikey Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Delay didn't bother me, in fact I thought F-18C early access this year was ambitious. Bugs or AI deficiencies unaddressed in years, doesn't get to me, its complex, its got to be a business, we asked it was noted. I understand. Key features missing like dedicated server, we've worked around it for years too. No dynamic campaign? Allows us to be creative in the modding department. Missing XYZ feature? Of course, there's always something missing. Customers frustrated, that's pretty normal, only takes one missed dream to create an outrage. Being told all official updates are in the offical updates forum and then hearing a Russian translation of key project timelines buried in a thread, followed by being told, when asking, if there was anything official, it would be in the Offical news forum, followed by no official news on wether the unofficial news had become an exception and was now official. That annoyed me, if not for being confusing, for just demonstrating how the company thinks about its communication process in different geos. It's a matter of respect. If I had news, new baby maybe, I tell my closest family first, the wider family second, my friends next and maybe work if I had to. So far we still never got told 'officially' and I don't forget things like that. Following week was Spitfire spin. I didn't get spun. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
DieHard Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) That's why I said it's probably better for them to merge first. I honestly don't know what ED is working on, since they disclose so little. What I do know is that there are a bunch of long standing bugs that limit the potential of the base game, and that I would like to see those addressed before other stuff like Normandy or new lighting. Then again, modelers and such have little to do with coding. (re: second paragraph) : +1 As to Message #1, "frequent sales" : I think it is a cash flow situation and what better way to bring in some quick cash than offer some good deals. I like MP that's where I hang out, either version makes me happy. Edited November 11, 2016 by DieHard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
cthulhu68 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) Seems to me ED Team has made a bit of a course correction. I'm noticing some people from ED I havent seen on the forums responding to issues/bugs quickly, thanking users for their input, and letting people know they'll look into it. Drona Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 there's no new Russian aircraft coming out. I understand that information is scarce and there is a law in Russia which prohibits DCS level aircraft, but does the law also apply for FC3 level aircraft as well? Anyways, it would be great if we could get a new modern Russian fighter even if its FC3 level. Is the legacy MiG-29K code still in DCS?
Eihort Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 You can see by my join date I've been here a while. I don't post much, mostly because I'd rather be playing the game... Well right now it's broken in multiplayer because I can't click anything because my mouse cursor just vanishes randomly. Still no working ECM light and Chaff and Flare quantity in the MiG-29. Not sure if the 21 is back from "crashes the game" status yet, but it was down for a while because of things ED changed. These types of threads pop up every now and then. I know because I went back and looked at my message history. A few stand outs, including one, where four years ago I joked about which was going to come out first: TacPack or DCS 2.0, back when I believe DCS 2.0 was going to be what 2.5 is planned to be, a complete integration. Yeah, TacPack won that one, despite my misgivings about TP and VRS. I firmly believe that best thing for ED, is that they're pretty much the only game in town. I also firmly believe that the worst thing for ED, is that they're pretty much the only game in town. Pick a multiplayer server and get on their TS. It takes very little prompting to start the poop talking about some of the long standing problems in the game. You want to bring more new players to it, some of the more obvious small, long standing issues would be a good place to start. The last several patches haven't gone well at all with things breaking badly upon release. However, yes, since then we've had this little thing like VR come along, and that had to re-prioritize some people to make that work better, but it's still far from perfect. I'm in the A-10C easy spring mission and getting all sorts of hitching bad enough to make me just want to quit the game for a while. On the other hand, we're a captive audience. If we had a real choice between products, a lot of us would probably jump ship after all this, but the reality is no one else is doing this kind of game right now and won't for the foreseeable future. We're stuck, we're frustrated and we want things to improve, but really, the last of those has just felt more and more unlikely, and at least for me, I'm unsure if it's even possible considering what's damaged.
BFBunny Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) i notice people always mention price, but why do people even feel the need to buy every single plane that comes out? If you are financially secure then no problem, but even having 15 dcs level planes I can't imaine someone plays all of them or plays all of them well as if you have one or two. I, certainly made that mistake in the past and then found I had no time to enjoy using them. There is a case for this conversation with the ww2 planes and the corean era fighters because they are simpler, but if you own the A10c that's about most of your gaming time to be an expert in it. I would say then that it's certainly worth the full price even with it being as old as it is now it's still THE benchmark for the A10 study level. If then you become an expert in the A10C systems, are you suddenly an expert in delivering your ordinance to the intended targets co-ordinatig with other team members and becoming a valuable asset to your team? Just because you own one or two modules and you don't play every day the game does not mean you don't like it. It's a hobby not a job after all. You shouldn't really be playing every day if you don't feel like it. Should ED change their path? Meh. I've not spoken to their lead so i have no idea what their end goal is. Be certain though that many of these plane pits wil be the benchmark for a long time and each one could be classed as to a game unto itself. Edited December 4, 2016 by BFBunny
ac5 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 First off Moderators, I am not bashing nor am I criticizing ED. I have to voice my concern over the latest practices of promoting DCS to the masses. The constant sales to cover up the lack of information maybe diminishing the value of all Mods for DCS. If I can expect a weekly sale and force bundling of Mods to make up for anemic information on progress? Why would I pay full price? Am I thinking too much into this or do I have a valid point? Indeed you have a very valid point here! Too much sales and new campaigns, which MIGHT be taking time away from the really important matters, e.g. merge to 2.5, bug smashing, and release of new planes. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 4, 2016 ED Team Posted December 4, 2016 how would sales and new campaigns be doing that? Campaign releases which are made by 3rd parties don't take any time away. The ED Dev team develop, they don't organise sales, so again not taking time away. ED release information when they are ready to, just like every other release we have had, we get a build up close to release, it is that simple. Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
