DCS Winter Sale Steam/Standalone?

Recommended Posts

Will there be a winter sale in the DCS E-store or on DCS Products in Steam anytime? I'd like to pick up a couple planes but my budget's a little tight and they haven't announced anything about a winter sale at all.

Well, the sale started and every DCS module is with a 40% discount, except the F-5 and the PF Campaign :( ... I'd love to purchase the F5, but its just too expensive for my gaming budget ... Will have to wait some more.

*cough* Get standalone *cough*

Much more sales and I don't see any downsides.

I mean, the M2000C has been out for a year but its not on Steam yet, what keeps everyone from switchting to standalone..

I'm on standalone, but sometimes there are items cheaper on Steam than on ED store ... and since the keys purchased at Steam can be used on the standalone version, I dont see the problem :)

hi guys I have dcs 1.5 and 2.0 standalone version but I've purchased dcs huye on steam today, how can I manage to use it with the standalone version? I already bind the serial to my account directly on dcs website, now how can I download the module to use in dcs standalone version?

So, is there gonna be a sale on the website, too? The situation atm seems awkward. I personally won't purchase through Steam because imo one should support the devs as much as possible. Steam simply doesn't deserve any of their earnings.

I'll give you a few reasons, why Steam is my favourite platform for games (not necessarily related to DCS)

- lightning fast download speeds

- automatic patches

- steam workshop

- holiday sales

- steam wallet/gift cards

But DCS-wise it is a win-win in almost all cases..

Downloading the Nevada terrain took me almost 2 full days with the DCS updater. With Steam it would've been done in 25 minutes. And if I had a monthly cap on my data usage, I would've been even less thrilled about all the data I was forced to upload during that time to other people trying to download the product they paid for.

IIRC, you can cancel the P2P download, this way you'll download directly from the DCS servers and you won't be uploading for anyone else.

Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be on sale on the webstore tomorrow :)

We did! ... the ED sale started today and the F-5E is 30% off, which is OK for me, so I buyed it right away :D

I also want to pre-order the Viggen, but will do it on early January, since I also purchased some Campaigns (at 50% off) and drained my wallet :(

Cheers!

Just go to the modulemanager in the standalone game. You should be prompted to download your brand-new Huey! have fun with it.

Thanks it worked, I just had to wait a few mins probably to resync dcs server with the module :>

It is little nasty that standalone users got F-5E for pre-purchase -20%, then they got access to whole aircraft like couple months (few?) before Steam. Then the price at Steam is the most expensive module, same as at ED store, while other on Steam are about 10€ less.

And now then LNS puts F-5E to -30% sale for Christmas in ED store and at Steam it is in normal price....

So wait longer, pay more, don't get sales.

I fly DSC in Steam, I buy my modules in Steam, I have to wait for newer modules longer because I use Steam. I get fewer discount opportunities because I use Steam. I never gripe about it because it's my choice. I just use Steam because I find life easier. If it worried me I would change and can never quite understand why others don't do the same rather than moan about it.

Just saying, no big deal. Merry Christmas.

i think there is different problem with f-5. i don't what it is but things are not normal with this plane. maybe a communication problem between bst and steam management, i don't know.
