John Banks Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Hey Walmis, outstanding work on the second beta version of your F-15! I have one request though :music_whistling: Is it possible to fix the open part on the left side of the nose? It's one of these missing polys or texture bugs, which really seems to stand out. Each time i go int othe external view, i can look into the nose and see the terrain or the sea behind it. It could also be that the nose on this side has a different shape than the fuselage, so the two parts don't really fit, thus resulting in an "open spot". I don't know jack about modelling, so i have no other way to describe what i mean. But i guess you already know what i am talking about? best Banks :pilotfly:

some1 Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Working on intakes now and i have stumbled upon a problem. Can't get it to rotate, tried arg 40 (propeller rotation), arg 324 (Angle of rotation of fan/compressor and turbine for engine #1), no luck. Any bright ideas? I hope I'm wrong, but probably it's not implemented in LO for F-15  (only su-25T uses higher arguments from the list and f-15 definitely hasn't got a propeller that uses arg 40) Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
John Banks Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Okay, here are 4 screenshots, showing the "open nose" and some open dots around the airbrake and wheel well doors as well as the wing roots. Best Banks
Vekkinho Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Okay, here are 4 screenshots, showing the "open nose" and some open dots around the airbrake and wheel well doors as well as the wing roots. Not sure I understand 'open nose'. I see nothing wrong with the nose in those Screenshots! Can you point out areas with issues?! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
diveplane Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 walmis once you hammer out the f15c , wanna over haul the a10 ,with spinning fan blades too https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Force_Feedback Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 walmis once you hammer out the f15c , wanna over haul the a10 ,with spinning fan blades too Don't push it, I think you, and all of us should be extremely greatful that he even started on the F-15, let alone put it in such a nice installer package and even included an updater. It's a selfless act which I admire, but I don't think we should push it. We should help in debugging the model, but not making outrageous statements and shouting 'do this', 'do that' because it's just rude. (no personal pun intended, just pointing out that manners also count) I'm saying it again, great model. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
maukings Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Small bug found. Youre the man Walmis dont let any of these people push you around with other projects. Do what YOU want to do

John Banks Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Ah okay Walmis, so there is a misaligned poly on the nose. And what do you think about these little white dots, which can be seen around almost all moving parts like the canopy and the air brake or bay doors? As if there is a gap betwenn the moving parts and the plane, when they are retracted.
SuperKungFu Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Before you add the details around the plane such as blades...etc, did you corrected the shape of the nose/canopy? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ViperEagle Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Hey Walmis, I think honestly, at least in my case, I can live with simply higher detailed static turbine face blades and blades in the burner cans than rotating ones. If you cant figure it out, it's not a huge issue. However, have you looked into the SU-25T scripts to maybe see how they did it? (I know, obvious question). But I also agree, the nose/canopy issue should be on a list of fixes for the next update, but again...thank you for all your hard work, for this, I'd be willing to pay!
S77th-GOYA Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 what skin is that? If you're referring to the one in Maukings' post, it's one he made. He's pretty good at doing flames by hand. 1
Vekkinho Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 For all of you who want spinning turbine blades there might be a simple solution (easy fix). If it's totally impossible to add rotating blades to 3D model, if there's no such argument that controls turbine animation when engines are started or running we might edit current turbine textures. Adding rotational motion blur with PS to those turbines (exhaust and intake) might trick the eye. Of course, they'll seem like spinning all the time but after all, most of the time you guys take a external look at your bird you're either flying, taxing or holding short, awaiting TO clearance from ATC. So most of the time you spend with Eagle you'll have running engines. This is justa suggestion, we should all try hard on making real spining turbos (there should be an argument toggling those animations on/off) but it also might be 'Detailed AFM' related (like Frogfoot). So if it's iimpossible to animate we can always reach for motion blur texture! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EscCtrl Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 hehe just noticed an awesome feature of your model Walmis! was out hunting choppers training my self up (havent played for months) was gunning down a hind when it opened fire on me - yeah i got shot down :( BUT i did notice the damage model! the nose got torn off revealing the radar beneath! awesome to me anyway - hopefully wont be seeing it much anymore though :P
Guest Hell Sqn Protos Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Before you add the details around the plane such as blades...etc, did you corrected the shape of the nose/canopy? When did you become project manager? I can't believe the presumptuous nature of some of the posts in this thread. All I read is - I want this and did you do that.... ect If he stopped this second its still 100x better than what we have. Get a grip people the man is doing this for free.
EscCtrl Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 heh you say that yet all I hear is people whining about people being rude :P seriously let them be rude becuase they offer ideas and requests - Walmis can brush most of it aside himself and choose what information he sees as useful. You're never gonna be able to prepare adults with no manners over an internet forum! so let them be. my two cents
ViperEagle Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Hey now, not all of us are being rude. We're giving suggestions. And lets face it, with the update to the "chicken feathers" in this last release Walmis is one of those guys that wants it right too. His attention to detail is fantastic. I'll say it again, you're doing a great job Walmis and thanks for being so easy going for those of us who've given suggestions. You have madskillz!! Turkey Feathers :music_whistling: And I'd be happy with animated or higher detailed static turbine blades. I'm already VERY happy with the model. Honestly, it's great, and I love it. All the big stuff on the model is done, and I'm extremely grateful. The rest is just little detail stuff. Thanks Walmis!
Shotsx74 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Hey Walmis, Your model is looking excellent, and I don't expect you to do this at all nor right away if so, but if you plan on putting some detail in maybe you could add a high res M61A1 cannon on the Eagle. Here is a pretty good pic of it, ill try and get more if you plan on doing it later on or now...? And here is a feather shot as well for you if you need one at all I dont think so but ya never know.
Shotsx74 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 SOrry there so big didnt know how to shrink them down =/

It was just a simple question/suggestion. You don't have to go off the handle like that. I asked it because he told me through PM he was going to work on the nose sometime today or whenever, i saw his post about the engine so i was just asking him if he did the nose already. If he did, i wanted to see it so i can help him check the shape before the next update. I said it 100x and I'll say it again, I thank walmis for doing this. But little suggestions here and there won't hurt, he can choose not to do it if he wants. Its up to his own free will. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
warthogmadman987 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Now only if the F-15 could perform as sexy as Walmis's F-15C looks. (IMHO anyway:thumbup: ) Keep up the fine work Walmis!
