AIM-9P5 changed?

I don't know why, but it seems that the P5 likes to lock on friendly players more than locking on to migs...

 

F-5 behind Mig-21, MiG-21 and Viggen heading towards F-5, no Afterburners, Viggen got killed

 

F-5 behind MiG-21 in AB, seeker uncaged, F-5 goes between F-5 and MiG-21, Missile hits F-5

 

MiG-21 with AB, followed by two F-5s, rear F-5 fires, other F-5 hit

Don't shoot with friendlies in FoV. That simple, and you've discovered the reasons for it. Newer missiles deal with it better but we've been spoiled.

But the lock problem is still real. Very difficult to get the locking tone, seems like the missile doesn't uncage really and has very narrow field of view.

I played around in SP a bit, F5E vs MIG21. I got 0 hits with the AIM9P5. Zero. I fired them from good positions at afterburning MIGs. As soon as they popped out a flare, the missile forgot about the MIG. Then again, they missed even without any flares being involved...

I played this scenario many times and I used to score hits....but not since the last 3-4 updates.

I am pretty sure I used AIM-9P5s the other day and scored kills.  I am not 100% sure they were P5s.  Have you tried lately?

I just started flying the F5 module yesterday. I finally learned to keep holding uncage button while pressing weapon release.
