Art-J Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 You understood it pretty well. It's always just a question of long-term purchase planning, perception of relative value ("How much I'm willing to spend for airplane X or map Y") and amount of bonus points You already have (if any). I, for example, do not intend to buy any future DCS products until VEAO's Spitfire XIV or M3's Corsair (whichever comes first). At the same time, I've got 30 bucks worth of bonus points, which will expire this November. So I plan to wait for full Normandy release and spend my bonus on it, because for the time being that's a better deal for me (I'll cut the price down even more than in pre-purchase and I'll get 12$, valid till May 2018, hopefully for the Spit XIV). If I didn't have any bonus points, though, I would go for pre-purchase now. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Hermit713 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) How about crossfire and SLI support ! I've got a world-class gaming machine and not being able to run everything and high graphics ( I run the game with a lot of Ai helicopters jets, and tanks ). But even the base defend mission in the spitfire can hardly hit 30 fps when taking off and initial fighting, make me not want to purchase any more modules until they fix it . It's getting kind a old... utilize two cores of your processor makes this whole entire package kind of a letdown. At least if you have crossfire you can get more out of the package. It would make a lot of people happy. I run a 1080 monitor or use a 36" ultra wide 3340x1440 Edited March 14, 2017 by Hermit713

I have a simple GTX1080 I am maxed out and most time I am in the mid 100's range @ 4K resolution (3840x2160) plus a support monitor at 1080p.
Hermit713 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) Yeah I can get fps 200s if it say basic little area but when we are talking a lot of planes and things like that it's a completely different scenario. Go try to find the Spitfire on the ground doing the "base defense "mission if you have the Spitfire perhaps it's a Spitfire issue because it's not finished yet? Because yes I can do most everywhere wide-open not an issue . Are you running the new Nevada map ? If you had to go take a look at some of the test they did with all the different systems you'll know what I'm talking about. you got to going to the hardware is part of the forum. It's a good read. Basically DCS does not use your graphics card very well and it's basically dependent on the speed of your processor. You could run a real basic cheap GPU or you can have an expensive thousand dollar GPU it's not going to run much better at all . don't take my word for it go read about the test they did. Andy1966 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Thanks for that. I thought it was on topic, as I am still trying to understand the point of pre-purchase! As far as I can see, we get 20% off, but if we buy at full price, then we also get 20% bonus towards future purchases. Is it not the same thing? I can't see the benefit of re-purchase. Not complaining, just not sure what the point is, financially anyway. to get bonus$ you would have had to buy another module or map, Etc. to get the 20%. a new player that has no bonus $ can still get a discount with pre- purchace, and get bonus $ also( If bonus $ are applicable) We are Virtual Pilots, a growing International Squad of pilots, we fly Allies in WWII and Red Force in Korea and Modern combat. We are recruiting like minded people of all Nationalities and skill levels. http://virtual-pilots.com/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Being a pack, it is treated as a discount sale, that is why you are not able to use bonus points... another of the drawbacks of having two modules for what should have been just one. If you have many bonus available, maybe wait for one of those events where you can spend 50% bonus and purchase them as separate modules. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

If you have many bonus available, maybe wait for one of those events where you can spend 50% bonus and purchase them as separate modules. If that is so I must always wait for a special deal to use my bonuses because I have everything in DCS that interests me (14 a/c, all maps, CA, WWII Assetts). Anything else will always be 'NEW' so either I have to forego my bonuses or wait until it is 'old' or wait for a deal. escaner Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 There are no "new" and "old" modules regarding spending bonus points. Either it is on sale or not, that is what matters. Before the product is (pre-)released, you can pre-purchase it on a 20% discount sale, so you cannot spend points. The moment it is (pre-)released in alpha status, the discount finishes, it goes to full price and you can spend bonus points (up to 30% of its price IIRC). As I said, Normandy + WW2 Assets is a pack, which is considered a sale, that is why you cannot spend the points. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Art-J Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Yep, we're aware of that particular rule, but nobody knows for sure what it actually means, since people have been spending their bonus credits on freshly released ED products since... introduction of bonus credits :D. It's probably different with 3rd party products. I, for a recent example, did so with Normandy and Assets Pack (bought as separate deals), and would recommend to OP doing the same when/if his bonus expiry date gets close. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
